Feedback on a recent build

I wanted to start getting into building more, so I made this pastel homestore based off a google image. I just wanna see what I should fix, so don’t be afraid to be harsh.
FIXED ANCHORING PROBLEM

This is a good start, but I do have some recommendations:

  • Add more detail

    • In some areas, the amount of detail is inconsistent. For example, the exteriors are highly detailed, but the interiors are quite simple. Simple things like adding a railing to the stairs can make it just that much better.
  • Anchor parts

    • Many parts are unanchored, namely the road and the trees I think.
  • Vary your designs

    • The same building was duplicated four times, so I feel that if you were to change them up or model new buildings it would look better as opposed to simply recoloring.

Oh sorry I forgot to anchor things, I’ll try to add more detail to areas like inside. Thanks for your feedback.

It’s really cute, I love it, but when I joined the game it was severely glitchy and it needs some work overall. The buildings were the best part, they look so adorable.

I would do that, but this was mainly for practice. I based it off of this image right here, so thats why its not all in one building, my next homestore will be though. Thanks for your feedback!

Fix z-fighting

Extend terrain

Make different trees, dont repeat

Theres tons of gaps, clipping and z-fighting. The rooms are cramped and the steps look really off. The neon sign is hard to read because of the font and thickness, also, usually homestores dont display their group name like that. The buildings are hanging off the grass, and I dont know why the yellow lines on the road are so thick and stop by the curve. You shouldn’t be able to see off the map, add other objects and details to make it look less bare. You should also change the neon on the corners of the buildings.

The houses look very nice. Although I do have some critiques. First off, there is a lot of z-fighting (as many others have said). To me, the houses look very small compared to the character, so I think the interior should be a little bigger to make it more roomy for the player. The houses are duplicated with different colors, I’d try to add some variation. Finally the trees, they should be different, add variation, more leaves here and there. With those fixes, I would definitely think this would look much much better. Anyway, the houses look good, but need some fixing up to do. I hope this helps!

Sorry, whats z-fighting? I’m new to building.

It seems very small and unique but also kind of weird.

Lacks detail and some colors, also some issues like above. I can’t fit through the door and some parts are colliding. The fence looks weird as well. Overall, add detail and fix issues.

That’s okay! Everyone starts somewhere. So, z-fighting is an issue that happens when two (or more) parts are inside each other and the face(s) of those parts are in the same position on that plane. Here’s a better example here:

I hope I explained it well enough for you to understand, but if you need me to explain it more, then I can. It’s a hard concept to explain without going into confusing vocabulary.

It can be fixed by moving or scaling the conflicting part by .001 on the face that is causing the z-fighting. It is also possible to remove the conflicting part by just deleting it, but it could mess up another part of the build.
