Hey, looks great, good j*b
So since this is early build, then +5 Real Developer Points for this build
some parts look a little empty, but i imagine this is just how these liminal spaces look
Wow! I’m quite impressed! The texturing is well done, Great job!
This looks great! I’ve always loved the Backrooms and would love to see this in a game. Do you know what game this will be in?
Hey hoven! Your Backrooms design now looks way better than standard Roblox games. The lighting is, in a word, legendary. However, do all those objects and lights cause any lag issues? Because I’m experiencing the same thing. I was able to reduce the lag by turning off shadows and deleting some of the smaller objects, but it’s not completely gone yet.
Do you have a solution?
Noww here’s the real architect
Be selective on which lights, models, and walls should have shadows enabled and which don’t while also making sure your models are optimized. You can also limit the amount of light’s you use as well. It was important for me to do this as I am currently working entirely on 4K PBR texturing and 4K materials.
This is how I set up my lights:
For invincible atmospheric lights, these give off subtle lighting effects for dark areas:

Base part + Attachments. Attachments are best for more subtle atmospheric lighting and you can usually disable shadows for these for a boost in performance. Don’t spam invisible lights, attachments are always better.
The setup you’ve created makes a lot of sense.
There’s absolutely no need for any light to cast extra shadows and strain the graphics card. Or using textures is a much better solution than trying to achieve the same effect with lights. After trying these, my render time dropped from 40% to 8%. I also tried identifying pieces smaller than 1x1x1 and deleting the ones that weren’t useful—there were about 1,700 of them. Be careful with Toolbox models.
But the one thing I don’t understand here is: Is using Attachments really that effective, and what exactly is the difference?
Attachments are more versatile and don’t use actual physical parts other than the main parent part itself, the more parts you have as lights, the more performance is being decreased. It’s not a necessity but it does make a difference in your workflow.
