I’ve just now returned to this community and felt like building something to try and get my building abilities back. I’ve never actually built something like this because majority of my builds are low poly and made in Blender but I decided that I wanted to try to build something a little more realistic. I’d like to hear any feedback y’all have. (I have no idea what to do on the roof so I’m hoping for suggestions to do up there)
It’s a nice building, I just think it’s pretty basic. I would recommend adding much more detail. You could add detail to the roof, the walls, windows, floors, interior, landscape, etc. I would recommend adding textures to the walls/floors to make them look more appealing and realistic. I would also suggest a change in lighting to make it more modern and attractive.
You could add some fun things on the roof to make it more realistic as a typical building in real life has machines and other things on the roof. Additionally, you should add some type of front entrance to make it more realistic and detailed.
Looks clean and well put together so far it kind of feature a very similar design something what city areas will have you’ll see they feature various of building shapes and variation into the build. Perhaps add color to the parts and grids on the windows you could even add variety of windows to feature it’s own design.
A good way to find ideas on ‘what to add to the roof‘, is to use reference images in order to think of different ideas I find this very helpful to us along the process, they’re mostly used for finding layouts, colors, or shapes you could add to that certain build, so on and so forth.
Since I’m assuming your going for a simplistic looks with that realistic approach. View different city’s just for an example, this still can use some adjustments and those important details within the building including the interior. You can basically use images and find things you like, and try implementing different ideas to make your build stand out.
As for the roof, you can add a little lip to the edge on the roof, and just keep it like that. Not many people will go up there anyway, here’s a reference.
And do you intend for people to go inside and spend time inside the skyscraper? If you make a city with many skyscrapers with transparent windows it will look a bit weird. Try making the glass less transparent, or opaque in that case.
You should use a single part for that whole edge, since they are all on the same axis with no orientation difference. You’ll just save parts that way. I’m guessing you have separate windows and the lines on the windows are separate too. You could save quite a bit of parts that way. It won’t make a difference for a single building but for a whole city… Yeah.
Overall, a simple build and simple is often good.
Good luck.
The improvements are coming together, if your wanting to leave the roof plain or if your just wanting little objects placed around sorting areas skyscrapers normally feature a lot of vent systems and other known objects.
I would suggest adding some more vents covering the side of the build and adding double of them lined up so it could add that bit of realism (tall buildings they have variety of air vent types including things like exit doors and other pieces). Also, I would add more detail around the build instead of focusing on the roof in general. I’ll attach an image just as a example so you could get a good layout on how you want your building to feature on the top roof, experiment and see what other details you want featured on your building and around it.
Heya, @Sanderrsss!
I totally agree with @RED_Apex, you should add some more details, decorations on the roof.
Add some decorations and details to the interior, it seems bland, different rooms, an elevator etc…
An entrance. (If there is one already, sorry I do not see one.)
And maybe some text somewhere, like a billboard or sign!
Anyway, thanks for reading! Have a great day/night.
