I installed Blender today and looked over some short tutorials to get me started with the basics.
Around one hour in with my first experience I was really enjoying it so I decided to make a very simple yet basic tree. Now due to it being my first ever creation, I would appreciate some fairly harsh feedback about how I can go about improving this tree as I believe there is always room for improvement. Cheers!
Personally, I have no harsh feedback. It’s simply amazing, I’d do a bit more designs with a bigger trunk to get more practice in perfecting it to your own taste.
To be completely honest, I don’t think that there is any “fairly harsh feedback” to give. It’s a very nice looking tree, especially to be your first one. The only thing I see on it that looks a bit weird is that the trunk seems to get pretty thin towards the top.
You did really good! The only thing I noticed as mentioned before is that, the trunk is a little small towards the top. It is fine at the bottom but it gets very skinny towards the top. One other thing is that some of the leaves look oddly positioned to me. But, it’s just personal preference. Other than that, it looks great!
I think you could improve the leaves. Right now they look like slightly warped spheres and it all looks like the fairly generic low-poly style. Maybe try making them longer and have different shapes other than just spheres.
The shape of the tree is quite nice. Maybe consider extending it on the bottom to add roots that would lock it into the ground and make it look more natural (even in low-poly form).
Very good considering it’s your first creation. I know I didn’t do that well on my first go.
This looks super good even though this is your first creation on Blender!
I’d suggest adding a bit more variance to the shape of the leaves. Right now they all look like spheres as @Lightlimn mentioned. Adding other shapes would very much improve the tree.
Also, you should make it so that the branches that come off of the trunk are a bit more visible. Adding on top of that, a small branch with some leaves on it below those top leaves would add even more variance to the mesh.
Other than that, this tree is very nice !
Good luck on your future creations on Blender!
Wow! That’s impressive! For somebody who has just recently installed Blender, that’s phenomenal! Keep up the great work, and I hope to see more great creations from you!
