Feedback on my GFX!

Hello devs!

I had taken a long break from developing for about an year, because of school. Recently I made a GFX after getting an idea from ChatGPT.

I would like to know what lighting changes can be done, and if anything can be added. Please give me your opinions!

Thank you all so much for reading! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It looks awesome!

I would personally add a crystal behind the character on the wall and maybe darken the rest of the room a bit so the focus lies more on the character and chest

Overall really cool though!

if your using blender try using cycles and also add pbr to the walls and floor cause it makes it cooler

the spark in the chest looks kinda weird… if you can make it below the chest and make the room darker

AWESOME GFX though VERY VERY VERY GOOD

I recommend lowering sharpness. I’ve done that for sure.
If there’s too much, it doesn’t enhance the image, you have to enhance it another way.

The best way would be to have a foreground object(chest and character), and to blur the background.
Now let me teach you about sacrifice, because you see those awesome crystals, they are part of the background, they are gonna have to be blurred with the background. You have to sacrifice parts of your picture to accomplish the best version of it.

For fixing the sharpness a little, I would decrease contrast and then increase saturation.

There’s letters across your image. With the sharpness effect and the watermark, it speaks loud about your intentions. You can’t be afraid of loss. Watermarks are for people that lack confidence, and I am just being honest. Watermarks are mindset.

Anyway, another way I enhance images is kinda a cheat but it works. If an image doesn’t look right, I just crop it until it does. I’ve done this many times.

This GFX looks great! Nice job on it! I rate it 10/10! How long did it take to make? What will it be used in?

Alright! Thanks so much! I will def try to improve it when I get time! Thanks for your time!

Yes, I have rendered it in cycles. I decided not to add pbr textures because I felt that it would shift the focus from the real scene. If I do find a good pbr texture though, I would be sure to try it out! Thanks so much!

Oh ok, I used a lighting preset. Maybe that’s why you feel that it is wierd. Thanks so much for your suggestion. I appreciate it!

Firstly, I would like to thank you so much for taking so much time and typing out the mistakes. I honestly did not know so much about the lighting in Photoshop, and I just tried tweaking each setting until the GFX had a somewhat good look. With your feedback, I learnt a lot about it. I will try to make improvements and and depth blur! I just intended to add a watermark so someone doesn’t make use of it. Thank you so much!

Well thank you so much! It took me about 2-3 hours to make, in fact I took more than an hour to position the camera and apply lighting. And I made this for fun, for me to be in touch with blender/photoshop.

I would also really appreciate if you would give me some tips on what types of light(Area light/Point Light etc) to add and where exactly so that I can make it look like there’s a bright light which reflects only on the avatar and not the entire room. And also some pointers on how to use Camera raw effect in photoshop.

I don’t know, I don’t use photoshop, I use Gimp as a free alternative to photoshop.
You would use a spotlight most likely because it would create a dramatic effect, but if you want lighting to highlight your character would mainly be done with shadows. I just noticed that there’s no shadows.

It’s much easier to work with lighting in 3D software.

Oh ok, I will try to improve my lighting in blender but the point is, the spotlight trying to create just brightens the whole room… If I use light linking, it looks very unnatural. So how do I effectively create a spotlight?

The overall idea of the GFX is nice, however, I think by having the main light sources come from the open treasure chest and crystals draws natural attention for the viewer to look at . The glow from those three sources will help light the main character when you make the cave dark as well, creating depth, and maybe even changing the camera angle to focus on the character discovering the treasure chest will also help with the storytelling
