Tbh. I am not sure how to feel about this piece of music. From your song name, I feel like you want a high energy song and the choice of the main instrument also enhance the feeling, but the beat just seems to contradict it, it feels more on the elegant side. Maybe it lacks background tunes.
yeah I 100% agree with you, I am still new to making songs tho, Im sure I will learn it pretty fast, thanks!!
I think the melody should have more of a purpose to it rather than going every which direction. You may also want to fix the timing on some spots. You may also want to change the synth & snare coming in at the same time because a snare will attack faster than a synth naturally so it sounds kind of off even though you may time them perfectly together, it’s just how it is.
I’d suggest developing more chords, harmonies, melodies with direction and having each pitch fit/compliment the other so you don’t get all the tone clusters that are in the song, towards 1:10.
Looking into the circle of fifths, chord functions, voice leading, and scales may prove to be helpful.
While it doesn’t sound bad, there is no clear melody/tune and it is not very memorable. I also agree with AnimalBot99.
The melody itself isn’t the worst, the main issue in your song is the rhythm and general flow of the song. Right now it’s hard to tell the BPM, or tempo of the song. It’s also hard to tell when each measure begins, which is (for the most part) crucial for the cohesiveness of the song. Use the metronome, it will 100% help when creating patterns.
My advice would be to quantize, or fit your melody to the beat. Once you can easily nod your head to the beat, you can move on to other aspects, such as adding more instruments, mixing, arrangement, etc.
I would like to agree with Jacly, as the song name “Flights” In my opinion would have a super upbeat overflow intergenic where a character is soaring through the skies collecting items and having a blast while also going through crazy cool obstacles while also petting cats.
It also needs a better beat regardless and more instruments.
