Feedback on my Obby Game

Hello everyone! :smiley::waving_hand:

Again recently i published a small game called ** Ground Obby** in low poly style and I’d love to get some feedback from other developers. (But the problem is that the map and level are small, so it only takes 5 minutes to finish.

Fun fact: this game is my first ever created GOOD OBBY GAME.

I would really appreciate your thoughts on these points:

  • Gameplay: Is it fun and engaging, or too easy/too boring?
  • Game design: Are the obstacles well placed and interesting?
  • Improvements: What kind of new mechanics or features could make the game more exciting and replayable?

Here is the game link: Ground Obby - Roblox

Any feedback would mean a lot and will help me improve the project. Thank you!

Good work on making the game, but I don’t think most people will play it because:

For thumbnails/icon:

  • Get a better camera angle / set the camera’s FOV to about 50 for a cinematic view.
  • First thumbnail should be the best one, yours is just grass with a sign that says coming soon…
  • The icon also isn’t ideal. It should be simple and colorful, for your style of game.

Also, the description is very bland.
Put emojis there and tell your players why they should play your game. You can get inspiration from other successful games.

Good luck with your game!

Yes you are right!

But again recently I created a new game called Color Dodge, fun game simple but bugs are there so I will fix it soon.

And it is more elaborate description, icon,…

Edit: but thumbnail is boring

I don’t know about 5 minutes completion…

Here’s my feedback:

  • I don’t think players like no checkpoints obbies, specially since most of the players are kids. But that’s your decision
  • It feels like the border hills are floating, place them down a little lower (2-3 studs):
  • The camera max zoom distance is a little bit too low, consider rising it up
  • The first stage lego bricks don’t fit with the obby itself (grass hills, low poly water)
  • And after the lego bricks, there’s the dissapearing blocks. Use tweenservice better, because i think you are using for loops (the fade in/out is not that smooth). Make sure to make your tween animation client sided
  • After advancing, i got to the red block that said “Checkpoint” i touched it and died. I think it’s just troll, but trust me the players will not like that at all
  • Overall, the obby itself needs more decorations, and more depth into the border. You should change the sky also. The lighting could be improved.
  • The touch for speed thing is unanchored, anchor it.
  • The obstacles flying in the air don’t fit with your theme
  • The same about the other grass hills
  • The level to jump through these blocks with speed is a little too difficult
  • Forgot to say, if you fall off, you won’t die until you are very far off the map. Make the water actually kill you

But overall, it’s good for your first obby game! My first obby game was 100x times worse than this, i promise. Good job, you’ll become a great developer!

It was fun until there was no reward. Oh, wait I rage quit. But seriously, no rewards!

I didn’t know how many levels/stages were in the obby either. Maybe why players will leave.

Add an indicator for what level/stage you’re on and consider giving a reward for just playing for a certain amount of time. Oh, and also there’s a typo error:

Edit: I completed the obby and got no reward

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR FEEDBACK, I really appreciate it, and you are right about these things, yes there are some things wrong but that is because of my concentration problem but that is secondary. So yes I will fix everything.
Thanks!

Yes, you’re right, I’ve also thought about some rewards, but I don’t know what kind. I can give some op there for joining the group and other things.
Thank you for your feedback!

There could be some currency rewards, and with those currency, you could buy cosmetic pets or some kind. I do that in my obby game, where each stage gives +5 currency

also, you could add a stage counter with % to show what stage you are

What models would you recommend to put there instead of Lego bricks? Because I don’t know what to do, what model would fit there, something with nature but with a low poly style because of course that obby have that style.
Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it

I actually have a post of a forest biome obby that would be good for your grassy theme i made a long time ago: Forest obby building feedback

but if you still have not found the ideal for you, i also got ideas from these games:
Cool Obby 2, Universe Obby, Obby Adventure, Easy Universe Obby, Escape The World Obby. Maybe these can help you better

For my suggestion, i dont think of anything. Maybe a hill with trees that you need to jump and try to not fall? maybe something like that, but add your obby more depth, it will look much better after.
