Feedback on my Space Rollers Game

Hello everyone,

Check out my game and looking for good feedback.

*The game is compatible with all platforms (Except VR).

Bump for some good feedback

Wow. Really cool and unique format for a driving style game. It would be cool to have daily challenges perhaps and some races or time trials to compete in. I was impressed.

It is extremely satisfying hearing you say that. I have put some true effort into this game and it looks to be showing. Appreciate the honesty.

Challenges are on my list, just need to get to it. I do have plans to put in 2 to 3 mini-game style modes very soon (Racing was one of them).

Would you be willing to give some feedback on the game once more with my latest changes? I am in the final stage of changes where I will be looking to advertise very soon.

Below are the last items to be added in:

  • Daily Reward
  • Daily Quest/Challenge
  • Global Leaderboards
  • Cosmetics
  • Minigames (future)

*As always, looking for any and all types of feedback.

Happy to have a look at it. I think you’ve got a good idea, you just have to work out how to give players enough to do, encourage progress and to make it re-playable. Your list does seem to encompass those ideas.

Make sure you try to prioritise each idea you are working. Consider which ones improve the game the most and focus on them. Try not to get bogged down in the grind and remember to take a break. It’s easy to burn out.

Think about making a group and add the game to that. Keep the current version as your "test’ environment under your user acct, so that there is always a playable version in the group available, with your day to day dev work done on the “test” version. Encourage peeps to join the group and become testers. Think about dev vids on YT ,etc as that will help build a player base slowly.

I’d advise removing the “blood” effects when you hit the NPCs. The experience Questionnaire specifically asks about depictions of blood. They do check your game & verify the responses are truthful. I’d recommend some other particle effects/colours on hit. It will also stop it being Recommended to U13s.

Also think about adding UI feedback on NPC hits and pickups. Noises, pretty effects and feedback are part of stimulating the brains reward receptors or whatever they are.

Let me know when it’s ready for another play test.

Why use AI in your icons? Instant mood killer for players. Other than that the game is pretty good, some instructions would be nice because I have no idea what i’m supposed to do.

Why not? I am neutral to AI assisting when it can help boost productivity and allow developers like myself work on the game and easily create a moderately decent game picture (I am not opposed to doing an official one later on).

I would also have to disagree with the instant mood killer. Mind you, some are in fact that bad, but as far as mine goes, it depicts the game quite well for my taste and really pops which is what I was looking for - I do feel I got lucky.

Currently there really is no goal in the game. I am implementing that now. How would you envision instructions when you start playing this game?

Was wondering if you would be willing to do a final play test?

At this current time, I feel this game is “completed” and will more likely move on to another game or build on this game concept for another game. This game was fun to make and I feel it is very unique compared to other games and feel it’s good as a casual chill game with fun activities. Below are the recent implementations into the game.

  • Global Leaderboards
  • Slow EXP gain (Time played in-game)
  • Roller Color Chooser at Spawn
  • Enhanced PvP Collision
  • Camera Shake Immersion when kicking Soccerball and running over zombies.
  • Mobile Haptic support on zombies, coins, soccerball, exp and something else I am probably missing.
  • Further enhanced Space scene in the game (Color, Stars and Rocks).
  • Fixed Soccerball Zombie collisions with network ownership on nearest player.
  • Added Controls UI to help avoid confusion
  • Added Hover Icons over each Location for better clarity (Not sure if this was in previous test run).

*Cosmetics are something I wanted done, but as mentioned above, looking to use this built game as a learning experience. And yes, coins are essentially pointless without cosmetics.

I have now updated my game. Complete overhaul and massive changes for more fun! Please check it out and let me know the feedback.

For the general public excluding children and the elderly, AI art has a negative stigma attached to it because of the general consensus on it. For you, no because of increased productivity. For others? Laziness or overtaking..

So,… what you are really saying is even though my AI generated art looks okay and has helped me with productivity, it is ultimately hurting my game now that I have a full stable game?

I’m not sure about it completely hurting your game, but it could affect the way that others view it. Me personally, I would avoid playing a game with AI art since those games are typically low effort. A lot of other people probably would too. But again, I took a quick look at your game, and you seem passionate about it, so I wish you luck.

Thoughts on the new thumbnail?

Bad, its AI. No one with a brain likes AI.

The only people who don’t care are literal children, anyone older than 12 years old will see AI slop and avoid it like the black plague.

Use of AI also makes games look very low quality, they scream that the developer simply doesn’t care about the quality, but quantity and/or profits.
People will avoid games simply because of that. If a person can’t be bothered taking a screenshot and putting some text on it, then they clearly aren’t bothered making a good game.
Yes, AI is faster than that, but it both looks worse and hurts impressions.

the game is really fun to play, but i was extremely hesitant to try it out based on its AI generated thumbnail and icon… after reading the positive reviews i decided to jump in and test it, and it is high quality! you should give the player a little bit of a guiding hand at the start to warm them up into the movement, though, like a tutorial…

also, please remove the ai thumbnail.

Ok, I have feedback.

  1. Cheaper paid skins/products.

  2. For zombies to actually pose a legitimate threat. For them to attack you. More gameplay.

  3. Minigames/quests.

  4. Race courses.

  5. Different biome areas.

  6. The ability to change directions while airborne.

I love these types of games, good luck with it.
You mainly need to add gameplay above anything else.

I do understand the AI perception and I tried to go for more of blended with a real screenshot and some ai tweaking. The Roller vehicle in the image is the same in-game. But, it seems like it still provides too much “This is an AI thumbnail.. skip”.

Appreciate the feedback - especially with the AI. I will think about a tutorial for the movement.

  1. Ok
  2. Hmmm… I am trying to go for more zombies to run over. The moment I start adding heavy movement, its going to significantly drop the fps. I will look into this.
  3. Ok
  4. Ok
  5. This is a good idea. I will see how to implement this.
  6. I had this idea in the early stages and I will see this is possible and within reason.

Glad you enjoyed and It was good to jump in a game with a fellow player

Looking for new feedback as the game has significantly changed from the previous feedbacks.

Very interesting game. I noticed the boost doesn’t always work as I expect it to. I’d expect the boost would allow me to change direction and boost in the way I’m looking, but it doesn’t. The jump works fine, though.

The game was solid until the matchmaking glitched and it didn’t end the game, so I just had to leave. It was a bummer since people were actually joining that server, but we all had to leave since there was nothing to do.

If the game had been working, this would be very fun.
