Feedback on Sad Lore for Game

I was creating some sad lore for my game, cuz why not?

So here’s the lore: centuries ago, there was a town called Elderglen, where Lira, a healer, and Eren, a poor knight whom she loved, resided. There was a war, and Eren was forced to enroll, but he promised her one thing: ‘Keep your lantern lit and I’ll find my way home’. She waited at the edge of the swamp for seven years, but he didn’t return.

A plague happened, forcing her to heal others using her life force. In her final days, she returned to the swamp and never came back. In a sick and twisted fate, Eren survived. He lost his legs in the war, but he resided in a different town looking for a lantern.

Talk to him, and he will give you a quest to find a lantern in the swamp. Do so with a blessing token equipped, and he will give you the lantern, which, when cleaned, becomes known as the soul’s lantern, a powerful item that evolves based on the user’s karma.

This lore is revealed through a different quest, and it’s going to be played as a cutscene. Any help in improving the lore would be greatly appreciated.
