Feedback on starting experience (Part #2)

Hi everyone,

I previously got feedback on my starting experience two weeks ago (will provide link at bottom of post) and since then have made updates to the game. The feedback was so helpful last time that I’m back again looking for feedback on my updated starting experience. First, here’s the game.

Collect Orbs!
As you can imagine by the name, this is a game where you walk around the world collecting orbs. It’s meant to be something relaxing and fun. Besides collecting orbs and exploring you can:

  • unlock trails
  • earn titles
  • find 12 secret orbs spread throughout the map
  • complete goals
  • leaderboards

Feedback I’m looking for

  1. Starting Experience How was the into “tutorial”? Did you have any issues teleporting to the main map? When you got to the main map did it feel like a good spot to be?
  2. First Impressions What are your thoughts on the map? Was the UI clear and were you curious enough to click on the different buttons?
  3. Game Mechanics Any feedback on picking up orbs, finding secret orbs, equipping trails, unlocking titles, etc.

Additional Notes

  • This is my first game, I’ve been working with Roblox Studio for about six weeks and I scripted everything myself.

  • This game was mostly a “see what I can do and make something” project and I know there could be improvements to GUI and the game loop. With that said, I think the game mechanics I sought to implement from a coding perspective work and I’m happy with the outcome. I’m still open to any constructive criticism but just remember I’m still learning!

  • All major in-game assets (trees, buildings, border terrain, etc) are from the Roblox asset pages and I made sure to double-check they were all free to use. I do not have experience with Blender and just used Roblox Studio to create items.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I appreciate any feedback you might provide. Have a great day!
