Feedback on this Showcase

Hey, this is a little bit of a side project I have been working on for the past couple days on and off of. It would be cool if I could hear some of your guy’s feedback! I’d gladly accept any feedback.

Here’s the game link: Workspace - Roblox

Here’s some game images if you prefer that:

Edit: Added a couple new things in and moved some other stuff around to create a more realistic environment. Patched quite a lot of bugs as well.

Edit: Which image do you prefer? The first one has the centre part of the wall and pillars slightly out so it gives a 3D effect. The second is the flat version and has the same texture as everything else.

This is really unique and the monochrome effect is done really well! I would suggest in the areas you want blocked off, such as the third picture, you make it look less like the pieces form a wall and more a pile of stuff. Lmk if I need to elaborate.

Hey. I’m glad you are seeing what I see when I make showcases like these. With the comment on the blockage of the hallway in the third picture, are you referring to the usage of furniture to block off the hallway?

I am talking about the rubble that is blocking the hallway. You could make the things more towards the floor stick out more than the things closer to the ceiling. Make it form more of a pile than a wall, make it look more like there’s gravity.

Ah, I get exactly what you mean and that is a great idea. I’ll add that in now. Thanks! If you have any other suggestions, I am open to hear you out.

I think in its current state, it just needs a bit more attention to detail here and there, such as my previous suggestion. Just remember to keep part count in mind and maybe mess around with some visual effects like Depth of Field. All up to you, though. I’m looking forward to see where this project goes.

Yeah, that completely slipped my mind somehow. I do plan on adding more aspects to the game apart from the build itself. For instance, I added a GUI that adds a darkened shade to the corners of the screen, and so on.

Looks great! If it were my showcase I’d probably give more attention to the floor. All in all everything looks fantastic nice work!

Hey, glad to hear. Speaking of the floor, I actually had plans to give it a design but the first one I chose didn’t work out very well and I kind of left it at the back of my head. Thanks for reminding me, I’ll try and think of something eye catching.

If it’s a concrete floor, you can always add cracks or areas that are dirtied.

Hi. Yeah, I get what you mean, I might actually do something where the door at the end of the hallway has actually been caved in almost and dirt has come through it a little bit. And then I have a pile of debris that fell down at the other end so I can make cracks because of the large material that has collapsed. Thanks!

What do you think about the grass slipping through the doorway? If you have a suggestion on how I can make it look better or what I should change, please let me know.

  • Look’s good, keep it.
  • I like the idea but not the execution.
  • Don’t do it at all.

I feel that you are wrecking an otherwise very nice realistic esthetic by having the block trees here. The green is a nice contrast but because everything else is so grey they draw the eye and the fact that they don’t remotely look realistic detracts from the rest of the room.

I would take some time to make more organic shaped trees can even make it a single cylinder like a groomed boxwood or hedge… image

Yeah, you should have seen them before. They were even worse. I’m just fiddling around with what I like and don’t like at the moment, but I’d like to get those plants to look a lot more realistic than they do at the moment in the near future. Thanks!

building is always a process… I have a friend who laughs at me for how much I change things. gl!

Yeah, I get that quite a lot. At the start, you usually don’t have the greatest idea of what you are going to do but as each part goes down, you start to think of more ideas along the way. Thanks.

indeed. I would be interested in seeing this project once you feel you are finished.

Hey, I know it has been almost a week but I’ve been working on this new update. It essentially is a blackout where you’ll have to reactivate the power by clicking a button on a fusebox. Because I am going for a horror style game, I also decided to add a timer where if the player fails to turn the power back on, they will eventually become crazy over time. For instance, at the start, their screen may start to blur, their breathing (sound) will increase, etc.

Although it isn’t necessarily a build update for this showcase, I feel like it will create a better experience. I hope you will enjoy it when it is released.
