Feedback on wipeout game

Hey guys I recently just released my first game which is based of the show Wipeout it is a round based game which I thin is an original concept the game was quite buggy but i fixed it all and released just in time for the saturday release date ads are out so you should be able to get into a server

Feel free to play and check it out anything you think should be changed or bugs you find please say and ill try and add it into tomorrow update keep in mind im a mostly solo dev so its kind of alot

I played a couple rounds and thought the game was an interesting concept. Here are some specific issues/suggestions I have:

  • It would be great to have a way to lock the mouse in third person.

  • In the lobby that you spawn into while the game is picking the map, some of the parts in the training courses are unanchored and can be pushed around.

  • On one of the maps (it was called something like “Map3” I think), I was almost able to skip this swinging hammer stage by walking along this thin ledge to the end, climbing up the ramp to my right, and then jumping around the invisible barrier at the end onto the next platform (if I’d tried for longer I probably could’ve done it). It would probably be good to double check all the maps in the game to make sure none of the obstacles can be skipped.

  • On two of the maps I played (these were both full courses rather than one of the baton PvP maps), I never ended up completing the entire course because the game stopped midway through (I think it disqualified me because everyone else finished), but the screen I got when I got teleported back to the lobby still claimed that I won and gave me 100 coins. The victory fanfare also played twice in a row when this happened, and the timer seemed to be trying to count down two different things at once because it was alternating between a larger number and a smaller one, e.g. 15-9-14-8-13-7-12-6-11-5 etc.

The guy above has a lot of good feedback but what I am going to say is wipeout is copyrighted so I think you should keep the idea but change it to be like “Blox Run” or something and have it so it is not primarily red and blue, have it like red and gray with some stud style and it will be really good.

All of those are great points and I will add and fix all of that tonight

The person above makes a decent point about the name — “Wipeout” is trademarked, so using it directly in your game’s title or branding could cause problems later, even if the game itself is original. The gameplay idea is totally fine, and yeah, the color scheme doesn’t matter — colors can’t be copyrighted, so red and blue are safe.

That said, the game looks cool for what it is, especially for an early release. Just something to keep in mind if you want to avoid takedowns or rebranding headaches later on. Keep up the work, it’s already off to a solid start.

Red and gray with stud style will make it look more unique since there are a lot of red and blue wipeout games.
