Opinion about my building, i made it for the game i am actually developing.
Are you going for a low poly theme if so it looks blocky.
This has nothing to do with lowpoly.
Anyways, your build is nice, but there are a few tweaks you can add to it.
- You can add external textures to add more detail to your build. A lot of top developers use external textures, or they import things they made in a 3D software like blender, etc.
- The building looks unappealing. Add more eye-catching features like neon windows, or transparent windows so that we may see inside and get a good look at a detailed interior.
- Add trees, or anything that would fit to the environment of (what this looks like) an apartment building. Add a sign for the apartment building name, door numbers, and mailboxes.
All of this would overall improve your build. I wish you good luck on your project, keep building.
Here are some thing’s that i would suggest:
-
First of all, maybe try putting some tree’s and plant’s around the outside, or maybe even add some pot’s.
-
Second of all, i feel like the window’s would need some more reflection to it, or maybe you would add some transparency and add some other thing’s inside to make it feel a bit more alive.
-
Third of all try to add some more texture / more material to it. It never hurt’s to try something new!
Overall i hope this help’s you on this build you are working on. Good luck with you’re project!
Out of curiosity, are those 4 doors? If so, is the building supposed to be “split up” inside or do all four doors lead to the same place inside?
Everyone has said a lot of very useful things. I think that I would personally add a rim to the roof parts. Just a nice extrusion that goes around the roof can give your roof more definition and not feel so flat. It might also make the build look a lot more realistic, as most buildings in that style tend to have rims around their roofing.
I can see what other people mean by blocky. If an apartment complex is what you’re going for, I recommend placing potted bushes between the steps. There definitely could be a bit more variation in color and greenery would fit that role well.
To be honest, your modeling look great. Though the building, in my opinon, looks very depressing and a little bit lonely.
For one, the building’s color is more recommendable to be beige, secondly I would really recommend you to make the windows to be light blue, or yellow because the black windows honestly made your building more sad-looking.
I recently built something similar to this and I’d recommend using larger windows as seen below, add reflectivity (.2-.4) and transparency and it’ll spice up your build a lot. I’ll also consider changing the color of the build, going for a redder brick. Overall the build looks good but I’d consider making the aforementioned changes.
Hey!
Build looks cool! One thing i would like to point out is the roof area seems to be the most detailed area in my opinion, while the actual build needs to be the one with the most detail. Not sure if people will be seeing the roof that much. Try adding a bit more detail to the actual Building itself.
