Hey everyone,
I’m working on a deeply personal, interactive experience called The Terminal—a text-based psychological narrative that explores heartbreak, memory, and self-reclamation through command-line mechanics.
Players interact with a terminal that represents the fragmented inner world of the protagonist. Each command they enter reveals memories, emotional states, and choices that carry consequences. The game is meant to feel like a cross between a visual novel, an emotional survival sim, and a symbolic operating system running on grief.
While the core systems/mechanics are still expanding, I’ve laid the foundation for:
- A working command-line interaction system (typed inputs trigger unique narrative branches)
- Act-based progression with hidden commands and branching emotional choices
- Thematic elements like memory fragments, a mentor AI, and a symbolic “shadow” figure representing a breakup.
I’m looking for:
- General feedback on the concept and presentation
- Suggestions for improving UX around the command system
- Thoughts on expanding emotional mechanics or gameplay without compromising the minimalism
I’m still polishing and building out the remaining acts, but the structure is starting to take shape and I’d love to get input while I grow it.
Thanks in advance to anyone who checks it out or leaves suggestions!
