I just released my first big project that I have been working on, the game consists on hitting things with a hammer to shatter them and when you do you gain “Fragments” that you use to buy cooler looking and more powerful hamers that give you more fragments and since i just released it I need some feedback on what you like and what you don’t so I can keep improving it!
|Context|
I have been working on this game by myself for the past 2 months. This is my first big project (i’ve made other games but all of them used pre programmed kits and I just customised them like zeds tycoon kit since I had little knowledge about scripting) About 3 months ago I got back into roblox (I stopped playing mid 2017) and started working on a huge tycoon(using zeds kit) half way into development I got unmotivated to continue since it its was to much and I could not really add my own stuff since I didn’t understand 90% of the stuff that was happening on the scripts and I didn’t have much inspiration to continue working on it so slowly I stopped working on it.
I decided to start learning how to script so that I could make a game for scratch and within 2 weeks a had an understanding of the basic scripting stuff so I decided to start making something, I started with something really basic: swing a hammer and when it hits a block it shatters, when I finished scripting it I really liked how it felt to hit stuff with the hammer and break it so I started expanding on the idea and as I did i started learning more and more about scripting.
Now that the game is released I need some feedback on it so that i can keep improving it!
What do you like the most from the existing content?
Is the GUI intuitive or is it confusing ?
Do you like the look of the map?
What would you suggest adding (mechanics, content, etc)?
(+) I really love the simple game idea - Take a hammer, destroy something, buy better hammers.
(++) The design of the game is quite unique. The GUIs are simple and understandable, the terrain is green and friendly and there are various of cool hammers, which are having their own, special style and handling.
(-) The map is pretty small, and so is the area, where you are destroying the objects. You usually just stay there like in a chicken coop with other players - Why not place the destroyable objects all around the map?
(-) The music is not really fitting the game and gets annoying over time, I’d like to hear just a normal melody, which is not getting annoying.
Conclusion
A really good and well scripted game. I can totally see the effort that was put into it. It has small contras, which lower the fun while playing, but these are not too dramatic! - PerfectlyBlack
Maybe expand the first area and continue to add other areas with different themes. It’s a good game but with the lack of scenery and tasks to complete there’s not much of a reason to keep playing. On that note you should include quests to give player’s a better sense of achievement and progress.
The UI looks simple so you can possibly work on it a bit more to fit the theme and maybe lower the bloom (in lighting). Rather than making it easy to gather fragments and levels you can make it more grindy by giving specific things a certain “HP” so it takes time to destroy them rather than a single hit. Overall I’d say it’s good but simple; needs more features.
Very neat game! If I were to suggest one thing it would be to expand the shatter area. A cool idea to add player engagement as a factor would be making different worlds with different objects that would require you to be a certain level. There are so many ways to expand this game; its a great start nonetheless.
ATM there are 2 areas, the garden and the museum with different items to shatter(lvl15 needed) but im going to be adding the shop and the house areas soon
When you join on mobile, it’s very laggy when you break an object. Also the gui is taking up a big chuck of your screen, I suggest making it smaller. Everything else is pretty good, good game.
First of all for two months thats to much,
there isnt a lot of content, it should need max 1 week as beginner
The idea is nice, but it has like zero content.
You can shatter stuff and upgrade the hammer thats it.
There should be like a options button, you can disable music but not sound effects and they are loud.
What do you like the most from the existing content?
Honestly i just like the idea, nothing else
Is the GUI intuitive or is it confusing ?
distortion is nice, buttons way to big, im not a fan about the text colors, they are “not easy” to read
the text in items looks bad because of the image, they are allrdy shown if you click on the item
Do you like the look of the map?
Its ok but to small
What would you suggest adding (mechanics, content, etc)?
A lot more content which content is up to you its your game
Overall I love the game and I won’t restate what’s already been said for feedback sooo:
There are some areas (ex: Garden) where you cannot break certain items (ex: the dead tree stump, that one big rock and a medium sized tree) It could come across as confusing if you can’t break those items. Maybe remove them/move them somewhere outside of the breaking zone?
