Figuring out if a player is 17+?

What do I want to achieve? I want to create a setting to toggle gore on or off but the toggle will only be accessible to 17+ users.

What is the issue? I don’t see a way to check in policy service and I’m curious if anyone knows anyway to accomplish this. Since this could limit our games player base drastically if we have to mark it as 17+.

What solutions have I tried so far? I’ve tried looking at policy service but its kind of useless and lacks a lot of features.

If this is not currently possible could someone per chance make a post under feature request to add more policy info like one related to violence and gore.

Is it possible to detect if someone is 17+ I’m making a game that potentially involves a lot of bloody effects. I was wondering if there’s a way to detect if someone is or isn’t 17+ so I can toggle the blood effects on or off for them.

How to check player age

Well, It isnt possible to get the Players Exact Age, but if you want to get a raw estimate of what the Age of a Player is, you use PolicyService:GetPolicyInfoForPlayerAsync(), this function requires you to enter a Player as an Argument, and what it will return is a table saying what is allowed for the Player, check for the AreAdsAllowed index to be true, since Ads can only be seen by a Person whose above the age of 13. I can very much do that.

You could try making a place that requires 17+ settings to join. Then you can attempt to teleport the player to it through teleport service. If you get an error that the player can’t join due to not being of age, you know they aren’t 17+. If they get teleported, simply pass the server in their teleport data so they can be automatically teleported back and you know they are 17+.

Basically try to teleport them from an all ages place to a 17+ place and see what happens.

That also works, and you can simply ask them to go there instead of forcing them to join it(as part of a verification process).
