Recently (today) i’ve finnaly released the pre alpha of my game 2D, featuring new broken caves, a chat, electricity and more!

please let me know what you think!
The game is definitely original, and it stands out being a 2D game. However, it still lacks some core gameplay mechanics. As far as I could tell, the only things I could do were recharge my battery during the daytime, and spam “E” while in front of a pile of pixels to earn… “science?”
Here’s some other thoughts I had whilst playing your game:
-
The UI could use some enhancements. That might not be your priority right now, but keep that in mind for the future;
-
There was no tutorial, nor were there any prompts telling me what buttons to press or anything like that. I was left guessing a lot of the time;
-
I feel like the rover is zoomed out a lot. At least allow players to zoom in a bit so they don’t feel so small and insignificant in this giant galaxy of ours…
I hope this helped. Keep up the good work!
Edit: Also, this happened after trying to interact with what appeared to be a pixellated rock mound:
yup, caves could not be more broken than that ;-;
Zooming is also going to be a slight headache, but i’ll get to it.
i know that there’s no real core gameplay loop yet, and that the game is really not that clear on what to do, like the science points. they don’t do anything significant yet.
there’s also nothing really established on why the player would be on mars, what they’re doing there and much more, wich, by the time beta hits, i will have changed to be much clearer.
The reason why i haven’t made a clear tutorial either is because i simply don’t like how tutorials are usually set up (just look at the war thunder tutorial. it’s horrible), and because i simply haven’t focussed as much on it yet.
About the pixel art, i know it sucks and there’s not much i can do about it. school+programming this game+responsibilities, eat up pretty much all the time i have to learn how to properly do pixel art.
Btw, you can open the build menu by pressing the arrow on the top right of the screen. from there you can drag and drop objects, wich you can then connect with wires.
