First Look at My Processing Station (Kiln) – Progress Showcase

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a new core mechanic for my upcoming game, and today I’m excited to share the very first version of my processing station — the Kiln. This system has been a big milestone for me, and I learned a lot while building it. I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or ideas for improvement!

What This System Does

The Kiln is designed to handle different types of materials, run processes over time, and produce outputs dynamically depending on the recipe or situation. The system is fully modular, meaning I can plug in new recipes, animations, and logic without rewriting the core.

Below are several short videos showcasing the main behaviors.

1. Moving Items Into the Kiln

In this clip, you’ll see how input items are detected, validated, and smoothly moved into the station.
This includes positioning and a fully synced server-side action.

2. Single Process Cycle

This video demonstrates a clean, self-contained processing cycle:
– The item enters
– The Kiln activates
– The process runs for its duration
– The output is delivered

3. Continuous Processing

Here I test multiple items entering one after another.
The Kiln keeps working without interruption, queuing and processing materials smoothly.

4. Incorrect Output Scenario

Sometimes the output isn’t what the recipe expects — and the system reacts accordingly.
This clip shows how the Kiln handles a mismatch between the expected output and the actual one produced.

5. Removing the Input Mid-Process

This video shows what happens when the input item is removed while the Kiln is still running.
The system safely aborts the process, resets its internal state, and prepares for the next valid item.

Final Notes

This is only the first version, but I’m really proud of how the system is shaping up.
There’s still plenty to improve — visuals, optimization, more recipes, and more types of stations — but building this foundation has opened the door for future crafting and processing mechanics.

I’d love to hear your feedback or suggestions. Thanks for reading!
