Fps going above the cap on games with minimal rendering (like baseplates)

As seen in the video, my fps is going above the limit, im starting to think its a visual bug, as i dont feel the difference nor do i see a difference in length of the bars in the micro profiler, it seems to happen on any fps cap, however its most easily seen in 240 fps.

Ive tried reinstalling roblox, and ive switched my refresh rate too.

My specs are
Intel i7-13620H
RTX-4070 Laptop gpu

This is intended?? If you know anything about gaming in general you’d know your FPS does not stay at a specific number/decimal. Please do your research… :man_facepalming:

Why does it go above the fps cap though, i set it to 240 and it goes to like 255 at times

Because FPS caps in Roblox aren’t always hard limits — they’re targets. Roblox uses a software-based cap, and depending on system load, vsync settings, or how the limiter is implemented, slight overshooting can happen. Especially on simple maps like baseplates, your system might briefly render faster than the cap before the limiter adjusts.

If it’s not affecting gameplay or causing tearing, it’s nothing to worry about.
