Tell me if I’m using the wrong category for this topic.
Back then I was using FPS unlockers until Roblox had it’s own built in FPS unlocker added to the platform, max FPS is 240 but I want to get 4K+ (for no reason), but for 4K+ I would have to use an external FPS unlocker, am I allowed to?
Too much FPS can bug certain games and give an unfair advantage to some, so I don’t think it’s really allowed but I think I might be wrong.
And how about lag switch? (I usually have 10 ping but it’s unstable and I want it to be 50 and sometimes 300 to increase the difficulty of the game in my own server)
Do forgive me if I’m wrong in some parts; I tried to do all the research, but I might’ve missed a few parts.
SUMMARY:
FPS unlockers are allowed, but some may be broken due to a recent Roblox patch in late september that removed access to changing most of the client app setting flags.
Lag switching, by definition, is cheating/exploiting, as stated in the Community Standards. If you do go through with it regardless, avoid gaining an unfair advantage/affecting the gameplay of other players to avoid getting into trouble.
FPS Unlockers
When it comes to using external FPS unlockers, yes, they are allowed, but use trusted ones (e.g. Bloxstrap). Avoid installing malware if using lesser-known ones, and make sure you get unlockers from their official websites.
These “flags” mentioned let you change the client app settings locally (meaning you won’t get in trouble for using them). However, Roblox recently removed access to most flags, and now run on an “allowlist” system, which was due to the flags being used for exploiting the physics engine. As such, some FPS unlockers might be broken/outdated and may need updating. I’d advise you go check the article yourself.
Lag Switching
When it comes to lag switching, I’d probably avoid using them, since intentionally disrupting your network for an advantage is considered cheating in Roblox’s Community Standards (see below):
While I’m sure it’s probably fine if you’re keeping the difference low/if you’re using it to affect yourself only, it might trigger Roblox’s automated moderation systems (or if it affects other players, owners of the games may ban you from them; check their in-game rules first).
Additionally, when it comes to FPS unlockers, Roblox’s engine is not optimized for ultra-high frame rates, which can cause issues like physics instability and UI desync, so be careful if you intend on going high (like the aforementioned 4k you want).
I’d personally recommend using Bloxstrap, since it’s been given the green light by Roblox staff, but it’s your choice on what you use.
