Hi,
I’m posting for a friend who can’t access the DevForum right now. His Roblox account was permanently banned recently. He tried appealing through Support, but the reply he got seemed automated and didn’t explain which item caused the ban.
He told me the only thing he uploaded was a stylized character model, and he’s fine with having it removed if that’s the problem. He also mentioned that another family member’s account on the same tablet got banned around the same time, so it might be linked.
He’s tried replying to the email thread and sent a support form, but still hasn’t received any clear info. He’s just trying to get the appeal looked at by a real person so he knows what to fix or delete.
We’re not asking for the ban to be overturned here, just trying to understand the proper path to get a manual review or find out if there’s another way to escalate it.
I wish i would come with good news but unfortunately you can only appeal through the Roblox Support form like they attempted or use the Appeals Portal (If the violation shows up there). I believe Roblox Support isn’t automated but simply uses templates, it’s very easy to notice this when they attempt to edit templates or write their own message
All they can attempt to do is continue communicating with Roblox Support. But out of coursity, why did they get banned (Ban reason)?
This is unfortunately an issue with many large platforms. Roblox, believe it or not, is better than most. I’ve actually heard that one of Roblox’s official Twitter accounts has been actively helping people resolve issues like this. Additionally, Roblox has been having many technical problems over at least this past week, including regarding moderation.
Possibly, but most of Roblox’s first wave of contact is AI or bots. AI automatically flags stuff and will automatically moderate whatever it flags. Now, I’ve been told that a human is the one that moderates it after seeing the flag, but I don’t believe that at all, because I always get my moderations appealed afterwards.
In any case, support has to be botted as well, considering how many emails they get. You tend to have to email a number of times before you get a human, or at least, somebody willing to do their job properly. The problem with support centers is that they’re motivated by quantity rather than quality, which leads to few people actually doing their job. It’s much faster to just agree with whatever the automatic moderation says than to actually do any form of investigation on the matter.
This is made even worse by automatic moderation actively and retroactively moderating users for the most incorrect and false reasons possible. Even some larger developers have been harmed by this, only helped by the Roblox Twitter account that I mentioned. I realize that Roblox is already stressed with all of the drama and lawsuits of late, forcing them to push automatic moderation out far too early, but this needs to be resolved ASAP. More importantly, the human teams behind support, moderation, appeals, etc, and their leadership therein, need to be reformed to prefer quality over quantity, and to immediately resolve issues regarding employees lazily doing their job.
(This isn’t to put hate on anyone that works in any of those departments, they have been helpful to me, at least when I get an actual human.)
