[Full Release] New UI Capabilities: Shadows & Individual Corners!

ui shadow is limited to CoreUISafeInsets?

ye ty for answer it works fine after changing ScreenGui.ScreenInsets to None

Hi, UIShadow should not be limited to CoreUISafeInsets. If UIShadow doesn’t work in your game for other values of ScreenGui.ScreenInsets, please file a bug report, and I will investigate.

I know I’m not the 1st to ask this and probably not the last, but what about inner shadows? Will that come anytime soon, is it planned or just not gonna happen?

Is it possible to make the shadow hide behind transparent areas, like this one in Figma:

(since applying UIShadow to transparent areas make the UI look extremely weird);

and is it possible to make shadow apply on a canvas, like this:

instead of whatever this is (bleeding into other objects):

and man we still need native ui background blur

I believe they removed this right?

Unfortunately correct.

are you planning to make it so it can affect strokes aswell? and innershadows?

I wonder if they will have support for Images down the line. That would be nice

Can we have the ability to add UICorner on the shadows. and also overrides the shadow’s shape if parented on the frame that has a UICorner aswell.

Why?

You can just have an invisible frame with a UIShadow and UICorner, there’s no reason to implement another feature to a thing that already exists.

This does not justify. Why would you rather have another invisible frame on top of the frame you already have where you can just basically add UIShadows to a single frame? and UI Styling would make it harder since you’d to have always design your UI with a SECOND frame just to have a UIShadow.

This is the main reason why they made UIShadow in the first place. Because we don’t have to make a seperate ImageLabel with the shadow PNG anymore. Doing it with a second Frame and add UIShadow and UICorner would be completely useless. I would rather have an ImageLabel shadows instead if we are going that route.

That’s not a feature already exists; That’s a workaround. I’m suggesting plausible QOL.

it would be nice if we have a toggle to show the shadow behind a transparent area aswell like how figma has it

i doubt roblox is gonna do anything tho, they are known for making bad updates and ignoring the good feature requests

we need drop shadow like this as well lmao

honestly they been working more on the ui side of things so they might add it some time hopefully
textshadows got announced recently

i highly doubt they would add native ui background blur though

Yes yes… very good…

I mean with native ui blur we can do better transitions like number counters where the digit shift up and blur + opacity or smth

any news on this? this also killed the way we did glows
