I’m just a small developer with a decent game.
I’d like to have a small playerbase - nothing even near big. Just a few players is all.
Do you have any advice on gaining a few players? I just have a couple occasional players, and this is my 2nd game. I only have a couple hundred robux, and I am well aware won’t do much with the large bids other users put on their ads.
Thanks!
If u want a small player base stay, u can’t have a large game that requires many players. Try startling with a simple 10 player game or lower. That will ensure some of you playerbase because the game does not need a lot of players to function to the full potential.
The game can simply be played solo. Other players won’t often affect your gameplay.
If a game is a solo-player game, I doubt it will do well; single-player games often die out due to the lack of socialization, unless there is a fascinating story to back that up. Luckily in your case, it can be played solo or multiplayer, which is great!
For example, a multiplayer game with a small player base could allow users to invite friends, who may invite more friends of their friends, etc…
I suggest creating benefits for inviting other players to play along, to the current players, and if possible, interacting with your small following, as they may be useful to your player base’s growth.
I don’t really think you can control the size of your player base. It all depends on how much players like your game. For instance, Dungeon Quest didn’t even advertise. All Vcaffy did was have his friends test the game and overnight it blew up because his friends invited more friends.
You would need to somehow make your game just good enough to keep like 10-20(Whatever player base you are going for) players constantly joining. But just bad enough to not blow up I guess?
I’d also say that a couple hundred Robux could still do you a little good. 100 Robux can still get you 5,000-10,000 impressions depending on the ad type. So you can still get it out there. It’s just getting players to click/see the AD. I think the best way to gain that small, consistent, playerbase is to keep advertising your game through Roblox, social media, friends, and just slowly gain 1-2 players until 10-20 players are consistently playing your game. And, like @Araknala creating a community of players around this small game and interacting with your players.
In my opinion, when you have a decent game finished, building the playerbase is where the fun comes in! Tell everyone about your game and why they may enjoy it! Create a community of people who enjoy the game you made! Implement update suggestions, chat with your players, have fun with it!
Best of luck!
Wow! I didn’t know that about Dungeon Quest, and remembered that I started playing that game due to a friend who invited me to play!
@astraIotus so basically, you can grow a game to the front-page, even without the advertisements & sponsorships, but it may take more effort; it seems to make a strong player-base though!
Begin by setting up social media accounts like discord servers and Twitter accounts. Spread the word and post sneak-peaks of future updates. If you can, purchase Roblox advertisements. Make the ads professional.
I’m getting a few people here and there, around 8 or 9 after I announce an update.
How much robux would be sufficient for getting a couple of people from an ad?
