Game design question. Will this game have a playerbase so people can enjoy the game?

You can write your topic however you want, but you need to answer these questions:

  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!

I’ve been making a game for the past 2 months by myself, it’s an economy game based on roles, they craft and sell the items they make to other players with a leveling system, the more you play as that role the more stuff you can craft and sell for higher profits, it’s basically a roleplay game with some pvp elements (you can hire a player bodyguard to protect your shop from criminals/thieves) and survival elements (there’s actually a cook role where you can sell the food you make).

  1. What is the issue? Include enough details if possible!

But i’m worried about something, the game heavily relies on the playerbase without players you can’t earn money since there’s no one to sell the stuff you crafted

  1. What solutions have you thought of so far?

I thought about adding some NPCs where you can sell your crafted stuff for half the selling price so even if there’s no role that benefits those items you can still make some money.
I have 10k robux that i can use to advertise the game on the site, and i can pay some youtubers to make a video on the game. Will this type of game succeed or it’s just a waste of time ?

After that, you should include more details if you have any. Try to make your topic as descriptive as possible, so that it’s easier for people to help you!

For these kinds of games with mass player interaction, I would make sure that the game can be fully played alone. If you need multiple players than the game may struggle to start up. Servers with only one player inside would force the player to leave if they cannot do anything.

People will still be able to grind to level up their role and with the NPCs they can still make some money, you are suggesting to add NPCs to buy the items you need for your role? and maybe a cook npc so you don’t starve if there are no cooks in the server ? or maybe explore the map scavenging for food

I’m going to assume that “Untitled Game” is what you’re referring to. This is a guaranteed flop in its current state. I can kind of see what you’re going for, but there are so many game-killing issues. Most of these problems are very common in failed Roblox games.

The amount of work to actually make this concept succeed could easily be 6+ months spending ALL of your free time on building, scripting, painstaking designing, numerous iterations and testing. In my opinion you should consider abandoning this for an easier project.

One silver lining to this is something in the title of this thread: “so people can enjoy the game”. That’s the right mentality. When you are the owner of a game, you are taking care of other people’s needs. Gain more experience. Hone your skills. Deliver a better product. Make people happy. Don’t apologize because it’s not about you. Just do better next time.

In this current state yes there’s lots of stuff to script and add, that’s a prototype version. Ofc there are game killing issues i didn’t even name the game and linked it in the thread. I won’t abandon tho it will just take time and i’m fine with that simple projects are boring, for the finished product even 100 players daily is an enormous achievement
