Last week I finished creating a game for a game jam where the theme was “Protecting Life On Land” and “Reducing Carbon Emissions”. Here it is:
If you have spare time pls play the game, I need constructive feedback so I can improve on my future projects.
(it only takes around 8 minutes to complete the game)
Novel idea, I have already completed the game. Here are the problems I encountered:
The background lighting on the start screen is too bright.
Some values might be off. Later I found that I didn’t need to pursue the ground; I just needed to save the trees, and I could basically complete the level.
My camera goes dark when around the walls.
There are gaps in the walls around the final level, and I fell into the water.
i feel like the thumbnails dont really say much about what the game is about
game description is formatted fine and looks good enough
donate ui looks generic like there isnt much going on for me to care to donate (even tho i just joined)
lighting in main menu is way too bright its like getting flashed banged by light mode
play and donate stroke could be increased
probably shouldnt be able to see the tool while in main menu
button text and title text of game look the exact same so there isnt much of a difference imo
spraying water on the ground to make flowers and change the ground from dirt to grass is cool pretty
upgrade ui needs a rework aswell
i find that after a few mins of playing that the game didnt really actually have objectives to go for other than mindlessly watering, i’d rather play something like a mining game is cause it atleast has that dopamine factor of finding new rare ores mining for larger number and repeat…
not too far into the game but i feel like there will be a problem where its gonna be tedious to walk back and forward to the npc to where i should be growing if i was really deep into the game (so a menu that you can toggle within your screen would probably just be a solution for this instead)
Absolutely terrific game idea, amazing work. Only thing i noticed is that sometimes, the NPCS get stuck on things, mostly the scientist. And also, super short. IMO, this game has too much potential to be 8 minutes of gameplay, please expand it
I finished the game. Love it, quite satisfying, very wholesome. Short enough where it’s not too repetitive. I like the boss fight.
Some notes:
I didn’t realise there are other upgrades since I had to scroll down. Maybe could make that clearer somehow
I didn’t actually seem to need any other upgrades, other than the watering can.
The watering can upgrade didn’t seem especially useful? Wasn’t clear what actually improved each level
Would be amazing if there was more control over what areas get watered, so you could fill in areas entirely easier than having to face and position your character a certain distance while watering
The tree watering/growth is cool - but I feel it should be more rewarding when you finish one. Maybe it plays a little sound and contributes a bit more to the overall %?
