Hi Devforum,
I am an intermediate scripter and beginner modeler (Graphic design too but that’s not relevant at this point) I had an idea for my first game I plan to stick with and follow through to launch. While the idea isn’t completely solidified, I’d like to get your opinions on it before I start piecing it together.
Main Concept
This game (Name still to be determined) will be about managing a farm. I know farming simulators and farming tycoon games have been used to death on the platform, so I won’t do one similar to that. Instead, I plan to focus more of the management aspect of the farm.
Starting off, you will be arriving at your new property. You will likely have 1-2 acres of land, and just your immediate family to help work the farm. (A dog too because of course you need a dog) You will start by selling at a local farmer’s market. As you buy more land and hire workers, you will be able to improve your reputation and get your name out. Eventually, local restaurants and shops may start buying from you, and you will be able to expand more.
You will slowly evolve into a farming empire, and will own hundreds of acres of farmland to send your ever-growing workforce to work on. You will eventually be selling to big-name companies like “Wholesome Foods” and others that I’m not creative enough to thing of names for at the moment.
(Maybe I’ll add some sort of rebirth system to keep players coming back for longer, although I’m not sure how I would integrate that quite yet.)
Final Words
This is a very rough idea of how the game will work, and is subject to change, but I wanted to get the idea out there so people can tell me if it’s terrible and would be a waste of time (Or how you would change it)
I may do devlogs for the game, if not to showcase my progress, at least to keep me motivated. I’m looking forward to hear what ideas you have regarding this idea.
