Give 18+ verified UK users an option to make their connection list public

In March of this year, all accounts within the UK had their connection lists hidden due to the UK’s Online Safety Act. This was seemingly done in order to comply with the act by ensuring that children living in the UK are not visible in other users’ connection lists. However, this also affects adults living in the UK like myself, and I personally have no reason at all to have my connection/follower/following list hidden (nor is it legally required).

It doesn’t make sense to blanket hide every UK users’ connection list when it should only apply to people under the age of 18. This can easily be fixed by adding a toggleable option to make it public/private in privacy settings.

It’d be nice to have my connections public to other connections I have. Other than that, I do think an option of “No One; Connections; Connections of Connections; Everyone” would be good.

I was about to make a post about this until I found this thread and I agree.

I am not a legal expert so I could be wrong, but as far as I’m aware, this law is only supposed to apply to users in the UK if:

  • their age cannot be determined (they are not ID verified)
  • they are under 18

Well since now everybody has to do an age check, I don’t see why roblox can’t allow 18+ verified people the option to choose their friends list visibility..
