Grant Players Permanent Access To Paid Access Games They've Spent Robux On

Hello,

Right now, if a Free-To-Play game were to be made Paid Access, all players who have spent Robux on that game would be required to spend additional Robux to gain access.

This can certainly feel like a scam, as spending more to access something you have already spent your hard-earned Robux on is a bit unfair.

Adding an option to grant all players permanent access to a game they have previously played or spent Robux on would make Paid Access game ownership so much better.
This would allow developers on the platform a lot more flexibility when it comes to managing whether their games should be Free-To-Play or Paid Access.

For instance, a normally Paid Access game could have a “free weekend” where anyone who joined during this time and spent Robux or simply progressed is able to still retain access even after the game goes back to being Paid Access. This would likely lead to a large influx of Free-To-Play users who would have never considered playing a Paid Access game over other competitive alternatives.

This system allows users a low barrier of entry to enjoying a game they otherwise may not have paid for, and being turned into future spenders. Users who play the game during a free period may recommend the game to others, increasing future revenue through Paid Access purchases.

Having these changes would be a dream come true.
Thank you for your time!

The entire purpose of free weekends is to get players who wouldn’t pay to then play the game and then when it goes back to being paid, those players now have incentive to purchase access to the game.

I don’t think this is a good idea, at all. It’s majorly lost revenue for the developer.

Perhaps a free trial feature or some free/paid temporary access feature would be nice.

No player will join a game they know will go paid in a few days and make purchases without the intent to purchase access after the free period is over.

Having the option to grant players permanent access would benefit every game owner who wants to grow their Paid Access game.

If you choose to do a “Free Weekend” with the intention of letting players see for themselves whether they want to purchase the game when it becomes Paid Access again- that’s totally fine and it’s up to you to determine how you want to grow and monetize your game.

But what about games where monetization goes beyond just Paid Access? Or what about if a developer wants to transition their Free To Play game over to Paid Access?

>Game developers should have the option to grant permanent access to players who made purchases or progressed in a game during a Free To Play period.<

I’m simply asking for much needed flexibility when it comes to how Paid Access devs manage access to their game. If you want to grant permanent access or not, it’s up to you- but having the option would be incredibly helpful.
