Research and Developments
Official Gravity Science Handbook
This document covers everything you need to know regarding the Research & Developments department of Gravity Science.
The Research and Developments (R&D) Department is one of the two departments in Gravity Science. This department specializes in the scientific field of Gravity Science. Scientists will be able to research around their sector.

Rules
-
Hostility to anyone is prohibited. [WARNING, KOS 10M, KOS 30M, SUSPENSION 1D, EXPULSION]
-
Attempting to cause a catastrophic event is prohibited. [KOS 10M, KOS 30M, KOS 1HR, SUSPENSION 3D, EXPULSION]
-
Failing to listen to orders from MR+ is prohibited. [WARNING, KOS 10M, KOS 30M, SUSPENSION 1D, EXPULSION]
-
Attempting to cause harm to other employees is prohibited. [KOS 10M, KOS 30M, KOS 1HR, SUSPENSION 3D, EXPULSION]
If you see a peer who breaks these regulations, feel free to give them a reminder. If they still don’t listen, please contact a Supervisor for prosecution. Remember, inaction is conspiracy.
Going on duty
To get on duty, there is a onduty command. To get on duty on Research and Developments, you can run the command: :onduty rd (You have to be in the group for this to work!)
General Information
Ranks
Trainee
By default, this is the first rank you get in the department. As a trainee, you are not officially in the department yet. To rank up, you need to attend a promotional training, which covers most of what scientists should know.- Clearance: Low-rank
- Can host:
- How to get: Join group
Tier I-Tier III
After promotion from a Trainee, you are now in a Tier System. As a scientist, you have access to all areas in any compound regarding researching and developing. You may even have your own sector in some compounds. The top 2 things you should do are either operating the reactor, or experimenting. Additionally, you can go to the borderworld, Xyn.- Clearance: Low-rank
- Can host:
- How to get (Tier I): Attend a promotional training.
- How to get (Tier II): Earn 15 Research Points.
- How to get (Tier III): Earn 30 Research Points.
Specialist
As a specialist, you are automatically assumed to have knowledge of a lot about the department. Your main duty is to guide other scientists with their duties. You may help other scientists with their work.- Clearance: Middle-rank
- Can host: Experimental Training, Xyn Training
- How to get: Pass the MR Application.
Supervisor
As a Supervisor, you by know should know all aspects of the department. Experience should not be that much of a problem. As a Supervisor, your duty is to ensure all scientists are assuming their duties correctly. You can also enforce the regulations made for scientists. You can also supervise trainings, to make sure everything goes smoothly.- Clearance: Middle-rank
- Can host: Experimental Training, Xyn Training, Emergency Reactor Operation.
- How to get: Pass the Supervisal Evaluation
Conductor
As a Conductor, you are basically the Head of Science's assistant. Your duty is to ensure operations around the facility that relates to R&D go smoothly. Overseeing everything and reporting to the Head of Science. You have a lot of responsibility.- Clearance: High-rank
- Can host: Experimental Training, Xyn Training, Emergency Reactor Operation, Promotional Training.
- How to get: Handpicked.
Head of Science
The Head of Science is the manager of the department. They oversee everything relating to the department. Ensuring all goes smoothly. Can change almost anything about the department at any time.- Clearance: High-rank
Promotions
The Research and Developments promotion systems works based off of Research Points (RP). RP are the main points of the department, and play an important role in the Tier System. Once you reach enough points, you are able to get promoted in the Tier System. The only way to get RP is to attend events hosted by MR+ from start to finish.Events
Do you want to earn Research Points? Attending these events grant you RP which you can use to get promoted!Events are broadcasted through the R&D group (linked above General Information), and the Gravity Science Discord server.
Experimental Training
An Experimental Training is an event revolving around training scientists how to properly use experimental equipment.Grants 3 RP.
Xyn Training
A Xyn Training focuses on training scientists on what Xyn is and how to traverse around Xyn. This event does not take place in the training facility, but rather in the Gravity Science Research Facility.Grants 3 RP.
Promotional Training
A Promotional Training is for Trainees only. This event focuses on promoting Trainees into the Tier System to get in the department. This will revolve around information about the department, and how to experiment.Emergency Reactor Operation
An Emergency Reactor Operation is only called when the reactor is in a critical state during a meltdown. The server has to have at least >10 players and a chance to save the reactor for the event to be called. During this, a mass rally will start first in Sector C, and scientists will then be moved to Sector D for the operation.Grants 5 RP.
Emergency Procedures
During a facility-wide event that could cause general instability within the facility, scientists are to follow these procedures:Meltdown
During a meltdown, you have two options depending on if the reactor is recoverable. If the reactor IS recoverable, please attempt to neutralize it before it cannot be recovered anymore.
If the reactor IS NOT recoverable, evacuate to your nearest evacuation site immediately.
