Group Names NOT Being Removed After Successful DSA Illegal Content Reports — Still Visible Despite "Content Removed" Email

Description

After submitting an Illegal Content Report via the Digital Services Act (DSA) form, I received email confirmations for 3 specific Roblox groups stating:
“Illegal Content Report Decision: Content Removed.”
However, despite this, the groups’ names remain visible and have not been replaced with a generic placeholder (e.g., [ Content Deleted <GROUP_ID> ]). This suggests the content is not actually removed or there is a bug with internal moderation tools failing to apply the deletion fully.

These groups violate Roblox naming policies by impersonating “Roblox,” which is not allowed. Yet, their names still appear unchanged and publicly visible even after receiving the “Content Removed” decision.

Where It Happens

Illegal Content Reporting form: https://www.roblox.com/illegal-content-reporting
Affected groups:

When It Happens

Initial reports were submitted via the DSA form on June 17, 2025
Emails confirming content removal were received on June 17, 2025
As of today June 17, 2025, observed in GMT+3, group names still have not been removed.

Expected Behavior

When content is removed through the DSA process, and the email states “Content Removed,” the group’s name should immediately be:

  • Replaced with [ Content Deleted <GROUP_ID> ]
  • No longer visible to users on the group page or in search results

Actual Behavior

The groups are still accessible. Their names (e.g., “Roblox” variations) are still present and unchanged, despite the removal notice. This gives the impression that the content wasn’t removed.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Visit: https://www.roblox.com/illegal-content-reporting
  2. In the field “URL of the content you are reporting,” paste the link of a Roblox group that violates policies (e.g., has the name “Roblox” or similar, impersonating the platform).
  3. In the description box, explain that the group name violates Roblox’s naming policy.
  4. Enter a valid email in the “Contact Information” field to be notified of the result.
  5. Submit the form.
  6. Wait for an email from Roblox with the subject line indicating the decision (e.g., “Illegal Content Report Decision: Content Removed”).
  7. Visit the group page again — you will see that the group name is still visible and has not been replaced with the expected [ Content Deleted <GROUP_ID> ].

Reproduces: 100% of the time with the reported groups.

Pretty sure this is just DSA moderators being DSA moderators. They are more than capable of removing the names, they just need to be re-trained to properly do so. There’s a small chance that the recent changes to Communities broke a name removal workflow but I doubt it

Well, the first and last groups have been entirely locked now, with the second one getting the content deleted treatment

This might have well and truly been some sort of delay in either the moderation tools enacting community moderation, the moderators reviewing the case, or simply roblox failing to update correctly
Though, I feel like the E-Mails should only be sent if the actions have been fully performed and if the website shows such communities as being moderated

The group names must have been deleted through third-party reporting methods, because I received a response saying “Content Removed” for a different group with a similar name that I didn’t mention in this report — and it still hasn’t been removed, even though the same amount of time has passed.

This confirms that DSA staff are still not properly deleting group names themselves. Most likely, someone who saw this report went ahead and sent reports through alternative means.

Some of the groups I reported — which were not included in this report — still haven’t had their names deleted, even though I received a “Content Removed” response for them.

@TrainsRSwag :skull:

There’s a chance an engineer came across this post and manually moderated the groups (edit: mentioned above).

That’s also entirely possible
Now, if only those manual fixes could be done to the client’s general codebase, as well as this issue properly resolved, that’d be great

:person_shrugging: Aslong as the name can no longer be input as a group name I’m glad
