Hand attachments no longer validate

Yesterday i uploaded a bundle and it went through validation just fine, but when i came back to do some fixes i noticed that hand attachments no longer validate despite them being aligned with the hand??

Another person is also having this very issue with a more humanoid body

Having issues with this as well, even though the GripAttachments are in their appropriate orientations:

The LeftGripAttachment should validate in this case, but the validator says that it is unaligned and recommends -90, 180, 0 as the fixed orientation.

There are two issues with that:

  1. -90, 180, 0 is an impossible orientation value. Studio will auto-correct it to -90, -180, 0.
  2. Setting it to something close to the recommended value like -90 179, 0 would be the completely opposite direction, and it still won’t validate.

The same thing is happening here too. I hope they fix it as soon as possible.

Hi @Blizzei , thanks for your report.

We are investigating this issue. Could you send us an rbxm, rbxl , or fbx file with this character so we can verify the root cause? You can send it to me directly and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Hello everyone, thanks for your reports.

The issue should be resolved now as we have disabled this new validation. It was intended to ensure the grip attachments are correctly aligned, as our documentation no longer recommends the fixed -90,0,0 orientation. There is an edge case for the left grip attachment, so we will make sure to fix this and do more testing before turning the validation on again.

Thank you for your patience

Could i possibly get my attachments on my one bundle updated in this case? I had to rotate my hand attachments by like 30 degrees for it to pass from the bug to get it to pass validation even though gears look weird from the attachments now

Hi Blizzei, Roblox does not currently allow creators to update marketplace assets.

We announced the Catalog Update Initiative earlier this month to address this issue, and a very large number of bodies on the platform don’t have the correct attachments to support tools. Once the Validation is fixed and after some of the caging campaigns are finished, we will be looking to provide creators a chance to fix their grip attachments.

Sounds good, is there an estimate timeframe for when it will roll out?

Hi @Blizzei ,

I wanted to follow up before I close this ticket as we have re-enabled the (fixed) validation a few months ago. We do want to launch a campaign to address existing bodies with misaligned attachment points, but the scope of this (grip attachments, back attachments, etc.) and the timeline has not been decided yet. If your assets are part of a campaign, you will receive a direct message in the future.

Thanks for your report and for your patience.
