[HCMC] Departmental Handbook

Official Document issued by the Hopper Chicago Medical Center System

There are currently 8 departments in the HCMC system. This is a list of their names and purposes within any space or capacity within this system. There will be more to follow very soon but this is the bare minimum to having this hospital run autonomously.

  • Department of General Practitioners - These are your general doctors that do checkups, physicals, and things of that nature.

  • Department of Residency - This is the educational capacity where medical doctors out of medical school get their required years of experience before choosing a specialty.

  • Department of Nursing - These are the helping hands in the medical world. They do the gross, mundane, or boring procedures, as well as distribution of medication and application of said medicine.

  • Department of Nurse Education - This is the educational capacity where nurses are provided training and licensing within the health care system.

  • Department of Security - Department responsible for the safe keeping of the hospital, staff and patients, performing investigations, responding and helping in trauma situations, and triage situations.

  • Department of OB/GYN - Department of Obstetrics and Gynocology, responsible for women’s health and child birth.

  • Department of Development - Is responsible for the construction and upkeep of all HCMC facilities.

  • Department of Administration - Oversees all staff and departments, has the final say in everything, and makes decisions about how to run the HCMC.
