I’ve been inspired by the dense crowd conglomeration that happens around Merely whenever he goes anywhere. People pile on top of each other and crowd around just to get a glimpse. In his recent 100 player capacity game Walk of Fame, the crowds would at times get incredibly dense. It was actually pretty interesting to see that many humanoids interacting and standing all over each other.
Head standing is an interesting part of Roblox culture, at least to me. I’ve always found it funny how Roblox characters are so casually able to just stand on each other’s heads, even making towers several character tall. It’s interesting to see under what circumstances it’s practiced in different subcultures. I’ve always done it as a friendly sign of affection.
So I’ve devised a game all about head standing. It has two game modes, as a reflection of two different ideas on mass crowd dynamics that I want to explore. Both of these game modes will be probably be not too exciting with only a few people, but really interesting to observe at high capacities, as I saw at Merely’s Walk of Fame. So I’ve sent a message to RoboYZ asking of I could get a 100 player server for this game. Until then, it’s at 50.
The first mode is a free for all game mode. You get point a point each frame for every person you are standing on, and you lose a point each frame for every person standing on you. I’m interested to see what will happen with a hundred people densely trying to jump all over each other in their own interests.
The second game mode explores the question of how tall a Roblox character tower can go. This is team tower mode, in which all players in the server have to work together to form a tower. Imagine up to a hundred people all trying to work collectively. The game recursively checks from the top character down that everyone is standing on someone’s head or shoulders, so jumping won’t count. It must be a legit solid tower without gaps. At the end of the round, the max height achieved is recorded in an ordered data store, so if we call this game the official measure, we’ll be able to see the highest tower ever achieved on Roblox. I’m really interested to see how this one goes down.
If the game manages to get a good crowd of people, this could be interesting. Thanks for checking it out!

The thank-you was primarily for that. :emo-angst:
This is just amazing. I’ve been in servers with bunches of friends before where we’ve built towers some 10-15 people tall. It’s super fun. I’m actually excited to try it with 100 other users. The teamwork aspect and the “oh gosh these kids don’t know how to do it so I’ll pop out from the bottom and climb to the top” thought process will make it quite the social experiment.
Kudos for this!
P.S. Something in me desperately wants this game to be called Telatowers. I know that’s a TOTALLY different thing but in a way it just… fits.
Shedletsky (as Telamon) had the original Tower of Fame
This game mode is called “Chase Merely”. One player is selected to be Merely. Merely gets points if nobody is on his or her head, and loses points for each player on his or her head. Everyone else gets points for being on Merely’s head. This game mode perhaps most resembles the crowd moshing that I originally observed around Merely.
Don’t forget to add king-of-the-stand gamemodes. That is, the person who has most points for having people on their head win.
Can you think of what people would do? xP
Uh lol wouldn’t just everybody not stand on anyone’s head?
If I add more game modes, I’d want to add server cooperative modes, like Team Tower. Team Tower is my favorite game mode because of that. It’s really cool to see players working together and trying to communicate.

Oh yeah. Um. I forgot about that. This is what happens when one stays up until 3AM (GMT)!
The initial run of this game went alright, but the max player count only got up to around 25. It was cool to see that many, but I’d love to see more! I’m going to try to switch to BC only and rerun the ads to see if I can ride up the BC section of the games page.
