So I’ve been working on coding the base for my game for a while now, and I now have all the features I want to include as of now implemented and working! To give a quick overview of what this game is, in my game (currently titled “Project Terra” until I can find a good name/setting), you:
. Start in a safezone (town) with a basic sword and pickaxe
. Leave the town to kill monsters, other players, and to gather materials, while being wary of stronger players and high level monsters.
. Explore the land in order to find more interesting and rewarding monsters and materials, random chests, caves with loot and more difficult boss monsters, and other various points of interest.
. Travel to different towns in order to sell materials to specific vendors, and to purchase better tools and weapons with the coin from doing so.
. Gain XP and level up as you kill monsters/players, and gather/sell materials. As you level up gain access to better items and higher level areas, and increase your health.
. Store earned coins at a bank, because you drop a large portion of held coins on death.
A fair part of the game will be travelling across dangerous areas for fairly long periods of time between the few truly safe areas and banks in the world, and I really want to figure out a solid theme for the game before I go ahead and start planning out the map and the such.
I was considering a kind of wasteland, post war vibe, with the towns being the few settlements on the island. The whole place having the feeling of being somewhere that was once populated, before being completely nuked, and decades later being slowly made more liveable by the few communities who survived underground for generations. Kinda like Fallout 1/2.
But that is just one idea of potentially many, I’d love to hear any opinions on what you think would make for a good setting for my game. Any input is really appreciated, thanks!
