Help with Feedback on Low Retention Source

Hello, fellas. Recently, my team and I have been advertising a game known as ASHEN. All stats are really fine, but it’s just that the retention rate is not ideal at all. We want to figure out why players are unlikely to return. (excluding those who come in and leave within a minute)

Nice game! I really like the environment and atmosphere and the effects when fighting are pretty dope as well. For me personally, I didn’t exactly have a goal that jumped out at me from the beginning. If I take a game like deepwoken for example, I know my objective is to try and create my own unique character. Maybe the game could benefit from some overall story that players can progress through especially if it’s an RPG? If that’s not something you’re after then there’s also the point of I can’t really explore and discover new things because I already have waypoints showing me around everywhere.
Also at the very start the dynamic camera made me feel motion sick very fast. I know you have a setting to turn it off which I did, but if you want to have it on by default I’d probably recommend toning it down a little but that’s just me. Nice stuff tho and good luck!

Thank you for the support and love you shared. I will take your advice on the dynamic camera.

However, the game is actually not exactly a RPG because it doesn’t involve all the necessary elements of what a RPG. ASHEN is a PVP game that gives a little guidance at first, and allows players to explore more and build their character by collecting weapons and unlocking traits.

There are also hidden lore quests where players cam unlock special abilities after finishing the chapter. (Only one chapter has been developed)

The problem I see is just that ASHEN is competing in a crowded market (The Anime Market), so most people will play games of animes they know (and I know that your game isn’t from an anime, but it resembles a lot of other anime games).
I may be wrong about this though, Im not a business major or anything.

Sorry, I red the title wrong, uh idk how this applies but im not gonna take down the comment.

I see. I really haven’t thought of this. You’ve raised an interesting point.

I did actually play this game prior to this post because I was looking into what games have sponsors up and if they keep those players for research on my project; I found the tutorial to be very confusing and I assumed many players would just leave due to that and not come back. Unfortunately, players don’t always do what you expect them too, this is an issue usually with game tutorials. You should try adding funnels into the game if you haven’t already to see where they drop off. Also, I don’t believe that this game being in a crowded market will affect much of its performance, if a game is good then people will play it, and the algorithm will push it.

I believe the tutorial you played was outdated since I noticed the issue and renewed the process. I wonder if you could check out the newer version?

Furthermore, I also noticed how there are bot-like players who just joined and AFK for around a minute to two and suddenly disappeared.
