i plan on adding tanks and similar tracked vehicles to my game, but i’ve got no idea how to actually make them move like a tank (rotating on the spot and such). how would i do this without creating a massive headache?
get values from a-chassis(normally in Players.PLAYERNAME.PlayerGui[“A-Chassis Interface”].Values if im not wrong) such as speed(Velocity.Magnitude) and IsOn and script using them, rotate the whole body using some force instance, long time ago i did tank movement using this exact tactic.
If vehicle IsOn = false then change force(rotation) amount based off speed (capped to base force), if vehicle IsOn then just rotate the vehicle using base force, and just to be realistic the faster the vehicle is moving the less force amount (so tank just doesnt turn like a juggernaut)
what force instance should i use?
I used BodyAngularVelocity for turning and BodyForce for recoil… they are deprecated but they still work… If i was just getting into studio id learn how to make the new force instances work(I think they can be found in the Constraints section in the “add instance” menu). I use old instances over new ones because im just used to them and i hope that doesnt bite me back someday, you wont find old instances in the add instance menu or anything, youd need to copy them from old model or create them using script. You could aswell just look up roblox studio force instances or ask AI to list them to you
