I’ve noticed that every time I add a part to my workspace, the performance drops right away. The game has about 120,000 parts in total, but they’re spread out across the map.
I was only in studio yesterday, and I never had this issue.
I wonder… is this always an issue or does it become a big issue when trying to play test? If trying to play test then try setting Streaming Enabled to off. It struggles like hell with large maps and/or high part counts.
I haven’t touched play test today and it’s started doing it. I’ve asked a couple of people they think it might be my browser that is impacting roblox studio.
Your browser? I doubt that. The performance stats clearly displays memory utilized by roblox studio itself. It’s impossible for a browser to just add 50 gigs of memory into random software.
Well It must not be the browser, one of my friends said if they do too much detailed stuff it crashes. We are doing some debugging and see if our game is the problem.
I mean hes technically not wrong and 120k parts is quite a lot. But… 120k is nowhere near enough to force studio to push 50 gigs of memory utilization. I have my own fair share of maps with similar part counts but they take less than a fraction of the memory yours does…
Something quick you can try is see if you have a random humanoid lost in the workspace somewhere. Like a humanoid that’s not really parented to any specific model or entity character. If so then try removing the humanoid and see if something changes. (You may still need to restart the place to clear the memory though).
What the hell… Could it perhaps be something constantly running in the background? Perhaps a plugin that auto updated itself and broke down? Try disabling all of your plugins then restart studio and see if the issue persists.
Higher graphics settings will always cost way more to compute but… never to the degree in which they slowly eat away at your memory over time.
You can take a dump if you hover over the “Dump” text and click on one of the options (32 frames, 64 frames, any work). You can find the dumps in this folder: C:\Users\your_pc_username\AppData\Local\Roblox\logs
I believe this is partially a misreading because you don’t have 102GB of memory. But again, studio should be stable regardless of how many parts there are, so keep looking into it
Technically? It could be. But apps can eat up more than whatever system memory is available since swap space exists. Though even then 100+ gigs would require quite the hefty swap space allocation which im not even use if OP has.
