Hiring Programmer for Playtale

What Is Playtale?
Playtale is the first toys-to-life game on the Roblox platform. Players get the opportunity to collect, battle, and level up their virtual and irl Roblox Toys in a large competitive open world experience. The game merges the fun of irl play with a unique ingame social experience. The game checks if a player redeemed a toycode on their profile and then uses that to reward that toy ingame. Originally created as a 2019 summer accelerator project the game has gone on to grow an engaging community that wants more than the beta version that was launched so far. Due to a demanding college schedule the original coder had to quit the project, and unfortunately since then the game has fallen into disrepair- with some key UI elements no longer functioning.

Why Should You Apply To Code For Playtale?
Playtale was only released in a limited beta version that is behind the paid access paywall. Despite these limitations and almost no advertising the game has seen wild success with its fanbase. For the month of February when it launched the game had an Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) of almost 50R$ per user, an Average Conversion Rate of 12.59%, and an Average Day 1 Retention Rate of 33.89%. All surpassing the numbers for the Top 25 games released by Roblox’s Developer Stats. These statistics were taken from our launch months when the game had around 300-500 concurrent players under a 25 robux paid access paywall. Keep in mind it obtained these rates while being incomplete, in limited beta, behind a paywall, with very limited content, and an incomplete core loop. Due to code in the game breaking after our scripter had to quit the game currently is inactive. However, according to the fan reaction and developer stats Playtale has the potential to be a very successful game. The team has a detailed plan of new content and large updates.

We’ve identified where we need to progress in order to complete our core loop, and have tasks lined up for the prospective programmer to complete in order to make this game as engaging & fun to play as possible. The current game loop as-is was never meant to be considered a finished product.

What Does it Take To Join the Playtale Team?
Poco Games is looking to hire an experienced coder already familiar with the Roblox platform and community. All applicants must be good at communicating with the team. Availability will need to be explained in advanced. All applicants must be available to voice call with the team at least once a week to give a progress report on what they have completed. All new tasks will be discussed as a team and then a deadline will be agreed upon. We are flexible with deadlines if we see that progress is actively being made. After the launch of the full version of the game the coder will still be required to help create content updates roughly every two weeks to stay a member of the team. To get the game ready for a full launch should be about 1-2 months of work. The applicant will take part in discussions about the creative direction of the game. It is important that this project is something the future team member can be passionate about.

All applicants must have experience with Lua coding on the Roblox platform. With a specific focus/familiarity with visual effects, messaging service, and data storage. Most of the game is already coded and the new team member will have to be able to work within the already existing framework. The original coder will be available to consult and explain the systems already built into the game.

The game currently needs a few bugs to be fix, but after will need some large updates to be made. Further detail about specifics will be given later in the interview process.

How Do I Apply?
To apply for the job you can contact me directly on the devforums. Please provide a brief description of your history on Roblox along with a portfolio with examples of your work. Further interviews will take place over discord with the team.

Payment!
Payment is fully negotiable, ideally it would be a percentage of the games revenue. We know and understand the revenue potential this game has, and have divulged information regarding this in the above statistics- we want someone who believes in this game based off of the concept & data as much as we do by our sides.
