Roblox trying to brute force itself into my automatically opened apps on Mac is a questionable addition at best, given that when I forget to close the Roblox client my MacBook runs like a makeshift heater.
Made another update Update 3 on the Script_Scheduler frame drop bug - #2 by Steven007101
Another bump, because why not. ![]()
Also the newest release helps, but it doesn’t fix the problem
Not sure if related, but on golden gate running roblox in fullscreen drops frmes to like 10fps.
It might be. It doesn’t have to do with hardware on our end. It has to do with Roblox core scripts
This is very unfortunate that macOS 27 is releasing soon, yet this bug and the bug making you drop to 10 FPS in fullscreen mode on Betas is still not fixed. Not sure if Roblox is playable after that.
And that really hurts as a Mac gamer when Roblox is one of the three games that are natively playable on Mac…
Yep, it has been a very long time, enough time for Roblox to fix this and also address the situation to Apple.
Hello everyone, thanks for you patience on this. I am getting setup to test on the macOS 27 beta. Based on the discussion so far, here’s some variables I will try to isolate in my testing. Let me know if there is anything else that you suspect or have seen.
- macOS 27 Beta versus macOS 26. Originally reported on 26.5, but potentially worse on 27 beta
- Manual versus Automatic Graphics Mode, potentially not related but worth testing further
Has anyone isolated to a specific set of games, or does it happen on any Roblox game when you see the framerate drop?
- This issue happened on macOS 26 and 27, this is just a report of Roblox using too much CPU over-all, with this issue beginning a week before this report was made, should be investigated.
- Using Roblox in full screen on macOS 27 makes your FPS drop to 10-ish, should be investigated, high priority.
- Manual vs Automatic didn’t make a huge difference, but after this report, I started using Automatic as it seems significantly better. (I’d love if it prioritised FPS instead of quality).
- The macOS 27 fullscreen frame drop issue is happening on every game, the CPU one too, but obviously, more realistic games like Prior Extinction will significantly worsen this situation.
Thank you for your reply, I’d love to cooperate more if needed.
Thank you, this is very helpful. I’ll report back here as I learn more
Have you gotten around to test my bug report yet?
We have a few other engineers looking into CPU usage on Mac and Windows, but to start I wanted to talk about macOS 27 full screen:
I am able to reproduce the FPS drop when full-screen macOS 27. Here’s what I’m seeing when in full screen:
- By default, the performance is worse than non-fullscreen
- When I turn on “Game Mode” (Rocket Ship icon in Menu Bar > Game Mode On) performance returns to normal
Can you try it and check if you see that same correlation with the Game Mode setting?
Actually, as soon as I sent this I started seeing performance issues again even with Game Mode on. Testing it more, I’m seeing that changing the refresh rate of my monitor to 60 Hertz restores the performance:
System Settings > Displays > Refresh Rate. I am seeing the issue on my built-in monitor when it’s set to ProMotion, but NOT seeing it when setting to 60 Hertz or lower.
Can you try this and see if you see the same thing? If so, that helps narrow it down considerably. Thanks!
Hi, I only have a 60hz display so I am unable to reproduce this.
And for the previous message, Game mode does not improve anything for me, not on macOS 26 even, it seems to be useless in Roblox. At least for me.
