How can I get players to understand my game?

Hi! I’m Poison! and I’ve been coding for a while, but I’m newer to the whole scheme of publishing games. What I mean is that I’ve made games, but They’ve never really taken off. I would like to request some honest feedback on my game, and techniques I can use to help my game grow from experienced developers.

Here is my game: Roll a Cupcake! | Play on Roblox
(note that the game is currently 16+ , I’m working on fixing this soon.)

My main issue with newer players in my game is that my game is more centered towards a younger audience, but the actual system of how my game works is harder for younger minds to understand especially of they are on a smaller device. I’ve tried to fix this by adding a tutorial GUI feature, but I haven’t seen many improvements on this issue–Sometimes players join, walk around aimlessly and leave despite the tutorial This isn’t always the case though, once people figure out how to play then tend to start playing more.

Is there any ways I can communicate with the player better on how the game works??

So I played, and first of all I would recommend fixing the ui. The text mixing with the strokes hurts my head.

And I would make the arrows during the tutorial a bit bigger, because it took me a second to find them.

This is not something you can just fix unless you are going to pay the 100K robux. ( I do not recommend it until the game is more polished)

Another thing with the ui, is it looks a bit ai generated. (I am not saying it is, I am just saying it looks as if it is)

Maybe make the cupcakes rolled go into your hotbar/tool inventory, because clicking the inventory button and choosing something is just more unwanted steps.

I dont know if i did something, or unlocked a multiplier, but this says +25c/tick but then above the cupcake it says +34

I love the cupcakes tho . . .

They look so sweet :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Okay, I’ll take these insights Into account! I really do agree with the GUIs Looking sort of AI-like (I’m not a UI Designer so its quite tricky for me to edit alone ) and I will edited cluttered the UI Strokes too! I’m going to start working on a full overhaul for the UI’s looks and features.

As for the coins per tick issue in the inventory UI, the old system for the game scaled all coins per second with rarity, not per character. The Inventory UI still uses this old system, so I’m gonna have to fix this as well.

Thanks for you feedback!

( and yes, the cupcakes are very sweet  ! )

As a fellow Dev.. I went to look in support (tho I’m too old for such games - cringed - lol)

I like the pop up GUI - looks very nice.
Asher right on the standard Gui buttons being off (at the bottom esp).

Bcoz I don’t play these type of games - maybe I didn’t get what I had to do after the tutorial.
Maybe that’s a problem that is not only with me.. who knows.

I don’t much like the excessive Blur you use for distance (maybe just me).

I’m sure with a few tweaks & a help button (with details) you will get it going.
Don’t give up.
Remember - players want FUN.. it’s what addicts them to stay longer.

Good insights, I changed the ugly ui stroke on the buttons.

I find it funny, I got that same comment about the blur with My friend who helped me debug the game. Maybe it’s actually just a me thing to add a lot of blur, so I decided I changed it so it shouldn’t be as blurry anymore :+1:

thanks for your input

Looking much better, I would remove these strokes as well, as it is almost impossible to read them!
