How can I obtain funding besides investors eg: Talent Hub?
This has boggled my mind for a while, I’m working on a story-horror game with the map based around Shedletsky’s 2006 Haunted mansion (Not that you asked, but our studio works on revitalizing older games). It has a monster and a plot about grievance and depression. But I can’t pay developers at all! Sure I work on it with my friends and all that but, I need some really talented people I just cant afford, I’m stuck here guys, what do I do?
I don’t know why you’re put off from investments, but you could also do some comissions yourself to earn money or have some kind of donation board (though that probably won’t do much)
I’m put off by investments because my game is not the type to make a ton of money, and I don’t want to waste peoples money/time.
I have not found a solution yet, I might try investing, or maybe getting a job. I’m not sure.
Earn bobux through donations, gamepasses, or premium payouts. Then spend that bobux on things like developers.
Not many people do donations.
I guess I should make a sellout game first.
Be careful doing that, don’t scam any people and don’t price things too high
I considered sellout games for a while, but mostly put it off with my morals. Looks like I have no choice if I want to get started, I won’t scam, but it might be a necessary evil for me.
Then how do you fund that game?
I don’t have to, pretty much every single simulators source code is on the toolbox.
It’s cynical sure but you gotta do what you have to do.
I mean like advertising. You should just stick to that game instead. Not the crappy simulator one. You’ll have to advertise it for like 10k robux for it to get some drop of players
The problem with that is, I don’t have the kind of money for advertising, and I need money in the first place to fund that original game.
But how are you going to fund the cash grab one? Just focus on your current game. Whenever you do something you love, the money will always flow in.
So this is what i’d advise you to do if you don’t want to choose the way of the simulator (which nothing is wrong if you do choose to do this, just make it original, fun, not just a cash grab.)
I’d strongly suggesting learning skill sets that are important within the Roblox community.
examples such as, builder, modeler, rigger/animation, programming etcera…
Once you’ve learnt the basics start looking for some jobs on Roblox, it’s an excellent way to expand your experience, contacts and ofcourse funding…
Back when I once hit over 1.5 mil value my main thing was doing commissions, I can do quite a lot now and I am developing a game that will hopefully take me far, I have around 550k Robux from another game I made ((I am not trying to boast, just trying to share my story so maybe it can help your quest here))
The game I made before is an obby, it still holds some players but it did what I needed it to do, which is make Robux.
So yeah, get on the grind brother I believe in you! Always remember… patience is the greatest attribute you can learn to conquer.
Best of luck!
This is a good idea, and thank you! I was looking for a short term solution but this seems like it without a shadow of a doubt. I’ll get on this and do my best, although it may be a year or two before I can start gaining income.
I’m happy to help, you’d be surprised at the progress you can make, don’t forget you can join the discord servers like Hidden Developers and Ro Devs that also have places you can find commission jobs.
I have a couple friends who started on Christmas of last year doing something they like, few builders and 1 modeler.
They’ve all made quite nice progress with earning Robux.
Another great way of getting sales or a slightly better pay is if your employer does not have enough Robux you can say, “I do take limiteds.” I used to do this and a lot of the times players have limiteds that they genuinely don’t care about and would offer it to you.
My last remarks is, always work hard, work with quality in your mind. What helped me was by thinking, If it were me, how would I want this person to work?
Probably gonna do modelling, already started with that, probably will start with low poly assets as they are in high demand.
I had the same problem. I can’t pay my developers but I think I might have it solved…
