What do you want to achieve?
I want to reliably import a Roblox character into Blender in a way that accurately represents how it looks and functions in Roblox Studio. My goal is to directly modify the character’s body meshes in Blender—things like reshaping limbs or adjusting proportions—and then re-import it back into Roblox without causing issues with the rig, scale, or model integrity. Ideally, I’m looking for a clean, dependable workflow that supports editing without breaking anything during the roundtrip process. -
What is the issue?
So far, I haven’t found any method that truly works. The exports I’ve tested either lose critical structure, distort the mesh, or break the rigging entirely. There’s no consistency between how the character looks in Blender versus how it appears once re-imported into Roblox, which defeats the whole purpose of doing the edits externally in the first place. Rigging often ends up misaligned or unusable, and meshes don’t retain their original proportions. -
What solutions have you tried so far?
I tried using the method shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V8IwJNPlqw
But honestly, it didn’t deliver what I needed. The rig and mesh weren’t clean or usable for precise edits. I also explored some common export formats like .OBJ and .FBX directly from Roblox Studio, but they either strip out rigging or cause import issues in Blender. I’ve spent time searching through forums and community discussions, but so far I haven’t found a solution that gives me a consistent, editable character model that can safely go back into Roblox.
One way you could do it is export each limb and import into roblox studio then rig it again inside of roblox studio.
That doesn’t works. Has a lot of flaws.
