A color change would help a lot. Maybe adding some deeper oranges with light reds could help.
Maybe some longer flames stretching off to the back would make it more convincing.

I don’t know if squash will do anything, but you know how fire has long and thin parts raising upwards? Try to add that.

I think it looks better without the flares (I think that’s how it’s called).
For a magic fireball that’s supposed to be moving through the air in any direction, I think this is the best iteration so far:
You can try adding a slight hint of grey smoke behind the fire to give it some depth.

You should and some orangish red flames inside it. It will make it hotter.
That looks excellent. I like the coloring and the not too overwhelming flames.
