@aidanisacringe and I are making a laser gun game(team vs. team, etc). We are basing it mainly off of the entertainment center, Lazer Kraze. The theme of our game is dark, neon, etc. We have already tried making a few things with the theme of abandoned, but we came to the realization that it was not what we wanted our game to show off. If anyone have suggestions for what we should build for our lobby, maps, etc that would be great.
If you could provide some screenshots so we can see what style you’re trying to go for, that would be great (even if it’s just some models here and there).
Thanks!
Hello.
In my experiences, games can be boring at times and fun at times. I love the games who add little things too their game. I highly suggest bonus rounds, making some certain rounds where it is totally different from like FFA, CTF. Some bonus rounds I would suggest:
- Freeze Tag. Such as you will have the citizens and the freezers where the freezers would run around and try too freeze people.
- Cops vs Prisoners. People dressed in cops try too shoot the prisoners and the prisoners would have too run around try not getting hit by a laser. The time limit would be around 3:30.
Making a game fun is always awesome. It doesn’t get as boring as other games which just run the same scripts and they would have too wait for bigger features too be added. I feel like some of these bonus rounds could be very helpful too making your game more fun. Mixing your genre’s also. Then, just having regular laser tag.
Cruizer_Snowman, here is a few screenshots of our current build of the lobby.
It’s not much at the moment, we just don’t know what to add for a laser tag theme. Obviously, we are putting detail into the game, but we chose not to use terrain or any special effects. Thanks for being interested in helping.
Well you could easily improve this in many ways!
For instance, if you’re going for a dark neon/lazer tag vibe, might I suggest working with gray-toned materials?
For the center spawn with the paths going out, perhaps changing the paths to a gray color and then placing neon lights intermittently or fully along the path would work. Make sure to set the transparency of the neon to 0.2 so it’s not as… well… Neon.
I would also suggest the possible use of Low-Poly designed buildings. For instance, you could have some sort of “hut” with a pointy/sharp top, which players could enter through a curtain to buy items. You could also include a Queue area. If you’re looking for map ideas, think of places commonly used in dark movies:
Warehouses;
Apartment complex;
City during the night;
etc.
Obstacles such as Boxes, Cars, Buildings, Statues, would also work well.
You could also look up on google things such as “Abandoned Buildings” or “Sci-Fi City”
I hope you got some Ideas from that!
Thank you for the suggestion. I deeply appreciate it and it will help us a lot. Have a great day!
Thanks again @Cruizer_Snowman, we’ve implemented a few of your ideas into our game.
If anyone else has an ideas or knows someone who does, please link them to this post because we could use more ideas!
