i’m working on a material system with 5 rarities and me and my testers don’t think it’s very satisfying to get rare drops (Grand - Illegal). The notification for getting drops is just a simple “+[number amount]x” on the material’s respective icon. How can I make obtaining rare materials more visually appealing or just appealing in general?
If it matters, here are the droprates:
Grand: 12%
Unreal: 8%
Illegal: 2%
Hello,
I might change your color codes, to like Common = white, rare green, unreal blue , (what is Grand?) … and Illegal is yellow / gold…
you might have to many categories of your items…
but first I would have colors that you can read and see…
then maybe to help on your icons have the background solid black, not grey…
then for the better ones you could add a fancy border around them of the same color and or like a star burst behind them
perhaps too the wording of them is confusing… unless that is how other would know what they mean…
this is an example of one game non roblox , that has color coding and words…
I see now, it outlines the color, and the words are still white… making them readable
you could do the same thing, but in a square around the icon…

a few sparkles ought to do the trick

You could add an epileptic flash of light and colors to really blow the minds of your younger audience. This makes them instantly hooked into getting better items.
All jokes aside, I like @Lord_BradyRocks suggestion of adding a unique color coded rarity system. It would be neat to also see some effects when you obtain the rare items.
