How could I go about designing this?

Hey, so I’m not a very experienced digital designer, so this definitely isn’t my forte.

I’m trying to figure out how I could go about designing a rectangle with one side sliced off, sort of like how the RTHRO tag looks like in this image:

I also tried googling around for some videos, I couldn’t find much.

Gimp is also the only program I have as well.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Here’s a quick video of how i made one similar to the one in the picture. I used photoshop, let me know if you have any questions. You have my permission to use it if you like.

Now realizing it didn’t show all the mouse movements. You can select the area of the triangle with the “Magic Wand” or a tool similar to it, and then switch the focus to the rectangle and use the “Eraser” tool over that area.
