How could i make a tree get affected/swayed by physics?

Hey, I’m trying to make a tree that’s attached to the ground with a BallSocketConstraint so it can move when hit by a shockwave.

The problem is that the motion is really snappy and unreliable. I’ve tried:

  • Expanding spheres to mimic shockwaves (caused glitches)
  • Explosions / VectorForces (tree jerks too hard and not smoothly)
  • AngularVelocity (still inconsistent)

What I want is for the tree to sway smoothly when the shockwave hits, not fling or snap very similar to this video:

And what it looks like right now :broken_heart::

thanks for reading!

I would avoid using physics for this case. Try looking into the source code of GitHub - boatbomber/WindShake: High performance wind effect for leaves and foliage to get some ideas. It uses octree and BulkMoveTo which could be used for what you are aiming for.
