How could you launch or start a successful game?

I’ve always had trouble starting up a new game or have always not finished the game I was working on and giving up.

How could I tackle this barrier?

I also have a hard time of thinking of ideas without it already been made.

Do you plan your games before you start working on them?

The biggest cause of project failure on the platform is likely due to a lack of planning. Make sure you clearly define each stage of your game’s development, and what the final game is supposed to look like. This will give you a clear set of steps to follow meaning you won’t lose motivation half way through; you can clearly see what needs to be done to create your game.

Planning also prevents you from changing your initial idea too drastically, meaning you won’t suffer from burnout whilst having to implement new ideas. If you set goals you want to achieve by certain dates (e.g. finish all the building by 14/02/21) then you’ll have a better idea of how much work you need to complete and how much time you have to do so, meaning you won’t accidentally spend months completing your building and only spend a day writing your scripts; the quality of your game will be sufficient enough to take off, and you won’t suffer from any burnout.

Yes I totally agree with you, but it’s really hard to plan or think of something original without it being a think and time management could conflict with game design and motivation in general…

I would make a Trello it can help you plan out everything as well as be used as a datastore for things like bans,

I’m not sure there’s a magic trick to being motivated. If you want to develop games, then use that desire for success as your motivation. If you have no desire to make games, or that desire is very weak, then walking away is a legitimate option. There are other productive ways to use your time.

One way to make your game’s concept feel unique is to adapt a genre that hasn’t been made on Roblox yet. Copying an idea from outside of Roblox, so long as someone else hasn’t adapted it first, tends to be met with praise. If you don’t feel like going down that route, you can do “same but different” where you start with a generic template of a certain genre, then mix in one or two things to make it feel fresh again. Take a ham sandwich. Add ketchup to it. Boom. Original game idea. Despite what some on DevForum will tell you, your idea does not need to be earth-shattering to get people’s attention.

Make half of the game or your goals for it at the start, then note the other goals and keep working on them til’ you finish them. That’s what I always do, and well by that I never give up!

For a game I made a post on really recently, I picked a space game; even though it had been done, I thought I could make it better. I open a google document asap, write everything down; then open a trello and organise it. Making posts will really help you, dont make posts too early though!

Make a game that combines stuff.

Maybe make a jailbreak that takes place in space??

And you use space pods to escape?
