Hey devs.
For the past year I’ve owned an obby game of the “time trial” genre (think of it as a bunch of levels/maps you can speedrun)
This game’s lifespan follows the similar one to most of these games - the game got quite big at first, with 80ish CCU, but over time the players lost intrest because they got a good speedrun time on every level and they left. I’ve asked my community for input on this and this was roughly in line with their feedback. “I’m good at all maps and got good speedruns, there’s no reason to play.”
Once a new map is released, the game’s CCU jumps up again to 30-60 players, sometimes even more. But this only lasts for a day or two.
Of course the obvious solution here would be to add new maps, but people grind out those maps for good times at the start and get bored easily, and the maps take a long time to develop and I can’t just keep adding them infinitely
Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can tackle adding replayability to this game? Any mode suggestions or ways to make the gameplay less repetitive? Is it time to move on instead and focus on new games? All reponses greatly appreciated!
