basically what i mean is when you hold right click and drag your mouse up roblox wont let you do kind of like a “backflip” with the camera. this game somehow did it. any ideas?

The default camera effectively keeps track of yaw and pitch, which are directly controlled by the camera controls. Yaw is allowed to wrap around but pitch is not. To make a “flight” camera, you instead directly change the camera pitch and yaw around the current X or Y axis. You do not need quaternions in this case because each angle change is very small, so gimbal lock should never happen.
